This feels a little like one of those bold election-night calls. The returns are barely in. All sorts of things could still go wrong. But barring something completely unforeseena big "but," grantedI think it might be just about time to call the American economy for Tim Geithner.

    Bush considered this and dropped it because the “if” was just too big. The reason for last fall’s one-time bailout was to give the banks lending money by means of a discreet, one-time contribution - as opposed to the unpredictable and limitless leech on our entire future in Timmy’s plan.
