Many movies are good, some are great, but only a select few can be called truly "essential." After heated discussions, long negotiations, and a shouting match or two, the staff at Yahoo! Movies has put together this list of the 100 films you must see before you die.
To choose the titles for the list, we considered factors like historical importance and cultural impact. But we also selected films that we believe are the most thrilling, most dramatic, scariest, and funniest movies of all time. Some of these films you've seen, and some you may not have heard of, but we believe that each one is a timeless classic that you absolutely have to see.

VIRTUALLY ALL THE SCIENCE FICTION FLICKS OF THE LAST 60 YEARS
HAVE A FAIRLY HEAVY PROPAGANDA LOAD CARRYING WATER FOR THE GLOBALIST OLIGARCHY AND THEIR CONSTRUCTIONS ON REALITY THAT THEY EXPECT ALL CITIZENS OF THE PLANET TO SUBSCRIBE TO.
THIS IS TRUE OF ALL MY FAVORITES OF THE GENRE.
Even THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL does the same thing.
Some, if not most, of such films had seed money and/or script input from the oligarchy to begin with.
They can be great entertainment and enjoyable by one and all. However, that makes the propaganda go down all the slicker and reside in the brain all the more unshakably. I say that as a psychologist and a sociologist. Add in the group think aspect and it’s a grand achievement of the oligarchy.
Can’t take any movie list seriously without “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolfe”
To be sure for modern tastes it is too long, too slow and overly melodramatic. But it is a landmark film, which is one of the criteria they are using.

I still cannot watch the scenes where Caligula eats his unborn incestously conceived child, and its all done “off-camera”.
Horror does not have to be “in your face” to be horrific.

They left out a few, Chushingura, and “Z” to name just two.
I’d also substitute Brotherhood of the Wolf - Gans (amazing movie) for one of their weaker picks on the list. (Toy Story, T2, Fast Times at Ridgemont High.)

Animal House didn’t make the list?
In a few years, it'll have to be reclassified as a documentary though.
Although it appear light and entertaining, Princess Bride is an almost perfectly-told tale and, IMO, deserves to be in any list at least 50 movies long.
Too early to be included, but the most recent almost perfectly-told tale is Benjamin Button. It is virtually seamless.
They left out the following:
Man Hunt (w/ Charles Bronson)
Treasure of the Sierra Madres (Humphrey Bogart)
They also left “Pootie Tang” off the list. :)
How did they miss “Plan 9 From Outer Space?” I'm sure we could add hundreds to this list. For those interested, keep an eye on this site as I'm sure they're going to get an earful about certain films not included on the list and make a new one in response.
