Using The U.S. Military to Round Up U.S. Citizens and Confiscate Their Private Weapons

Posted on 02/18/2009 1:33:35 PM PST by FortWorthPatriot

There have been several posts on different threads where this topic has been discussed. Some FReepers say our U.S. military would not use armed force against citizens if order to do so; others say they would, going as far as saying that "the military will fight for whoever pays them to."

I thought why not just ask our FReepers who are currently on active duty what they think.

So, active duty military FReepers, here are the questions:

1. Would you obey an order from the current president to disarm U.S. citizens and force them into internment camps?

2. Do you believe that those in your chain of command would carry out such an order?

3. What do you believe is the percentage of personnel in your command that would refuse the order?

4. What do you believe is the percentage of personnel in the entire U.S. miltary that would refuse the order?

I have also heard from multiple sources about gang members joining the military - to become more proficient at urban warfare.

1932, Bonus Army. Several killed hundreds wounded.

1970, Kent State. 4 killed, 9 wounded. National Guard opened fire with rifles.

1993, Waco. 76 killed, including 21 children and 2 pregnant women. US Army vehicles used, SOFD-D (Delta forces) on site.

There have been others. Army soldiers will do as they are told until such a time they can figure out they are on the wrong side, but by then many will have died on both sides.

“none of the units with whom I served in the Army would have followed an order to use force to disarm citizens and shuttle them to internment camps”

They’ll never be asked to that. They instead will be asked to “quell a civilian uprising causing the starvation of innocent civilians. We have a list of names that must be apprehended at all costs, if you can catch them. They are well armed and are hiding out in this neighborhood. Go get them.”

P.S. Waco was about a $200 tax stamp for what the authorities claim were automatic weapons. Even if true, it was still all about a $200 tax stamp.

Please keep in mind that the location of the governments military depots are known to most of us. Not only do we know where they are, we know what is in them. In addition, some of us know where the key to the depot door is kept.

Soon after the balloon goes up, everyone will be equally armed, and the destruction might be substantial.

Towards the end, even many of the Federal and Local LEO’s would balk at this, none less the military.

However, if this does happen and there is a civil war, the Russians, Chinese, and their allies will take advantage of the situation and attack.

Oh dear, I’m getting old or I’ve just been hanging out here too long... I remember when we had these very same concerns here back during the Clinton years.

Randy Weaver's wife and son were murdered over a $50.00 tax stamp.

About all I need to start with is a pointy stick. Then I'll have a pistol.

A pistol gets me a rifle.

A rifle gets me a case of grenades or a machine gun.

You know the drill.

I agree with what ya say yet a Con Con still has to be approved by two thirds of congress and then ratified by at least 38 (?) states does it not ?!??!?

Here is the complete Article V. The part after the semi colon is not applicable to this discussion.

The Congress, whenever two thirds of both Houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose Amendments to this Constitution, or, on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments, which, in either Case, shall be valid to all Intents and Purposes, as Part of this Constitution, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States, or by Conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other Mode of Ratification may be proposed by the Congress; Provided that no Amendment which may be made prior to the Year One thousand eight hundred and eight shall in any Manner affect the first and fourth Clauses in the Ninth Section of the first Article; and that no State, without its Consent, shall be deprived of its equal Suffrage in the Senate.

Now cut it down to the part that counts here.

The Congress, whenever two thirds of both Houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose Amendments to this Constitution, or, on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments, which, in either Case, shall be valid to all Intents and Purposes, as Part of this Constitution, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States, or by Conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other Mode of Ratification may be proposed by the Congress;

So you see, there are two "modes of ratification." And who gets to decide which mode applies? CONGRESS. Does it say "by a supermajority?" No. Therefore, the selection of modes of ratification is by a simple 50% +1 vote of Congress.

So a simple majority of Congress could throw the ratification process to completely undefined "state conventions."

These "conventions in 3/4s thereof" are the wildcard. These could, in turbulent and polarized times, become "Acorn conventions" held in downtown civic centers. These civic centers could be surrounded by radical libtards, and conservatives might not exactly be welcomed there.

Nobody really knows how this would happen. The only time it was done before was when Prohibition was repealed in a big hurry. There is all kind of room for mischief here. A Hugo-Chavez-type figure would have no trouble seeing to it that these "conventions" in the states were rubber stamp assemblies put together by Acorn.

There are just as many technical means that do work in urban areas. I”m not saying the govt would have it easy. I am saying it would be a tooth and nail drawn out civil war.

I’d be grateful and relieved if you could share evidence that a career federal “law enforcement” officer “balked” any time, say, in the last 50 years, when asked to infringe the life or Constitutional liberties of a citizen.

I hope I’m wrong, and willing to be corrected.

No one ever said that being vigilant for liberty would get you elected Homecoming King.

Of course, some people just naturally enjoy the taste of jackboot polish.

I truly hope that if such desecration of our rights were to happen, that these honorable men and women, who unfortunately have had to use such means too, would uphold the second ammendment to our freedom. Thank you for posting, it gives me hope to know that people out there are ready to fight for freedom.
