Honda Fury bike stirs up a storm Out this spring, it will cost about $13,000

SANTA ANA, Calif. — Honda has just introduced a motorcycle that looks about as far from a Honda as one could imagine.
The 2010 Fury was unveiled at the New York International Motorcycle Show, and it’s already creating some serious waves.
“The Fury opens the door to the most extreme level of custom looks,” the company said. “But once you’re rolling, the Fury experience is all about that special bond between rider and machine.” The bike will be available in March or April and will retail for “around $13,000,” according to Bill Savino, manager of motorcycle press at American Honda.
Savino said the company’s test-riders have said that “the neat thing about the motorcycle is it gives you that sense of going back: It’s simple, it works and it handles well.”
Honda will offer an array of accessories for customizing the bike, as will outside companies such as Cobra.
What remains to be seen is whether motorcycling enthusiasts embrace a chopper made by Honda.
“You always have the naysayers,” Savino said, “but … what we’ve heard the most, is, ‘Why (make) a chopper now? It died off five years ago.’
“We don’t believe that. … A chopper has never been made by a major manufacturer, and it’s never been made at a reasonable price.
“There is this younger generation that has a CBR600 or 1000 in their garage and wanted a weekend cruiser. Now we are giving them something to go after.”

I’ve owned one Kaw, five Hondas, prior to my HD.
Liked the first six, but REALLY like my HD.
I simply find it odd that the FORST to show up on the MC threads and start bashing, are the jap bike owners.
And in each and every thread, the claim is made by them that HD owners somehow sit aroudn b!tching about Jap bikes.
Just ain’t true!
Facts are, it’s the other way around.
And the FR threads prove it.

I have ridden with the same group of about 35 guys for over two years. Only ONE HD broke down and it was a POS that this guy had put together like the caddy out of Hohnny Cash’s song “One piece at a time”, so it was doomed to fail from the day he put it together on a salvaged parts budget.

Well, I could afford it.
The higher cost got me better quality.
So price was not the object.
I don’t ride my HD b/c it is a chick magnet.

New Harleys are much improved, they don’t break down like they used to. Been in the bike business for thirty years and Harley’s bad rep for breakdowns is a thing of the past.
I honestly don't know where all of these bike breakdowns are taking place at. I drive for a living. Never see a brokedown bike. I ride EVERY day. Never see a brokedown bike.
The last "breakdown" I saw was about four years ago. Some rookie on his new japper had been over at the DMV on a Saturday practicing for his test. He had killed the engine and restarted the bike so many times that he had drained the battery. I don't even count that as a breakdown, and that is the closest thing I have seen to one in several years.
My Street Glide is as dependable as any bike out there. The weather man is calling for 12 degrees here tonight, and I have no qualms about riding to "church". I know that she will bring me home, cause she always does.
I ride a Suzuki 1200 Bandit. I wave at all two-wheel brethren, be it scooters on up. I have no dog in this fight, but I still think this thing will be as popular as the Rune (ie. not very).
Yea, those V4's were kick ass. Lots and lots of torque.

That is totally insane.
I’ll say something negative that is factual about Harleys. They are slow. Here is another. They are expensive to purchase and expensive to maintain.
Beyond that, my HD touring bike was supremely comfortable, had enough torque to roll up any mountain in top gear and carried a ton of travel gear. That and it looked absolutely fabulous. It was built remarkably well, and unlike japanese bikes, it was worth rebuilding instead of disposing of at the end of it’s lifecyle. New motor and transmission and you are good for another lifetime of enjoyment.
Oh, my HD never stranded me either. Of course, neither did my Honda VFR, but man that was an uncomfortable touring bike, even for just 2 hours, but I could do 20-hour days on the HD with ease.
In fact the only bikes that ever stranded me were the BMWs. Wonderful bikes, horrible electrical systems.
Speaking of scooters, I just saw the latest “Top Gear” where they ride scooters 1000 miles in Vietnam. HILLARIOUS. I laughed so hard through the entire episode, I could not speak right the next day because my throat was hoarse. Absolutely hillarious.
That said, I hate scooter TRASH!

IMHO, where the Japanese went wrong was trying to hard to imitate Harley Davidson. The Japanese had some wonderful inline twins, inline 4's, and some really hot V4's that were just dynamos on wheels. Today, it only seems like Japanese bikes are innovative when it comes to big touring machines and sport bikes. The cruisers are all v-twins to more closely resemble a Harley. Yamaha even went so far has to start using push rods, despite Yamaha having no nostalgic reason to build a cruiser with pushrods. As for Harley's being slow, who cares? They're fast enough. I feel about as badly when faster bike passes me on my Harley as I do when a vette blows by my jeep Cherokee. If you're exceeding the speed limit, you'll be passing me, even if you're on a moped, because your chances of catching me speeding are about nil. That's not what I look for in a car, and it's not what I look for in a motorcycle.

Why does every motorcycle thread have to turn into a Harley bashing thread? A comparable HD would run between $14,000 and $17,000. It would be just as reliable (probably more so) as a Honda.
