I’ll say something negative that is factual about Harleys. They are slow. Here is another. They are expensive to purchase and expensive to maintain.
Beyond that, my HD touring bike was supremely comfortable, had enough torque to roll up any mountain in top gear and carried a ton of travel gear. That and it looked absolutely fabulous. It was built remarkably well, and unlike japanese bikes, it was worth rebuilding instead of disposing of at the end of it’s lifecyle. New motor and transmission and you are good for another lifetime of enjoyment.
Oh, my HD never stranded me either. Of course, neither did my Honda VFR, but man that was an uncomfortable touring bike, even for just 2 hours, but I could do 20-hour days on the HD with ease.
In fact the only bikes that ever stranded me were the BMWs. Wonderful bikes, horrible electrical systems.
