EVANSTON, Ill. A 10-year-old boy died after he was found hanging from a hook in a bathroom at his suburban Chicago school, and his mother said Wednesday that school officials haven't given her an explanation for what they described as an accident.
Aquan Lewis, a fifth-grader at Oakton Elementary, was found unresponsive and hanging from a hook in a bathroom at about 3 p.m. Tuesday. He was pronounced dead Wednesday morning at Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

Yeah, that must be it. I’m wondering if some stupid “tweener” movie has that in it. Maybe the kids just think it’s fun and games, no harm, no foul. I’ll have to ask the 15 y.o. grandsons if they’ve seen something like that in a movie. I’m betting they have.
Or perhaps local street gang punishing the kid who didn't want to join up.
No, there isn’t.
Maybe.
That poor poor mother. I can just hear her cries! The worst of all pains. To lose a child!
Child, 7, Found Hanging on Clothing Hook
What is this? An annual event?
Sad. Very sad.
See post # 26
I remember that one - that was the hippie charter school, wasn’t it?
I’m still looking for the Philadelphia one.
First of all, I hate the headline. There were more concise ways to say the same thing such as:
“Illinois boy, found hanging in school bathroom, dies”
or
“Illinois boy dies hanging in school bathroom”
without the awkward “After Being Found Hanging” which reads like his cause of death was being found.
Secondly, my mother warned me that hanging in the boy’s restroom at school wasn’t safe and I guess I now know what she meant.
I’ve seen that in movies, and there is even an episode of Hannah Montana where Miley’s brother puts the obnoxious rich kid on a hook outside the beach bathrooms. They show him squirming and screaming at him.
If this is a prank gone horribly wrong, the kid(s) that did this are going to need therapy.
My heart hurts for this family. For all the families.
Murder most foul!

That leaves more questions that answers. How does the janitor know how long the kid was on the hook?
Johnny Dangerously with Joe Piscopo...from the 80's. Hardly a current-day tweener movie, though.
Ive seen that in movies, and there is even an episode of Hannah Montana...Also used in That 70s Show TV sitcom -- and probably others.
Exactly! Some stupid bully or bullies (there’s usually the alpha male and his “posse”) terrorized this kid and hung him on the hook as a “big joke”. When his posse squeals, he will be too...
Yeah, that’s the story I was referring too. Does anyone ever know if the culprits were ever caught in that one?
Cannot read more of this; but how outrageously pathetic this is. Heartbreaking to think about how this even happened.
