Good evening everyone.
Statism continues to run amok in Washington.
The O administration is set to soon unveil a Big Bank Bank Bailout...more debt onto debt for as far as we can see.
But a ray of hope: there are hints that some Dems as well as the Rs in the Senate have qualms about the Depression & Huge Deficit Act of 2009 which passed the House last week.
So we shall see.
Meanwhile we can have a lottery: how many Executive Orders will the new president sign THIS week??
Hello there. Well, thank you for those kind words, Jem! Yes, it was an outstanding conversation with a really nice, intelligent lady that has the same political views I have! Yes, we must do it again! :))
Just to clarify, Geee, the belly laugh was for post #134.
Got that 2/3 s.
Thank you, Geee.
Good morning. Prayers for you mil.
Ah, you poor thing, having to “see” Sheila Jacksuun Lee ao many times. We see her quite often up here, but not as much as we did about a year ago. It was 28 degrees up here, about 0400, it’s up a bit right now.
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
2 cups All Purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (if desired)
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups (or more) chopped peeled apples
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 raisins ( I don't include these)
Topping
1 tablespoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease bottom only of loaf pan, 9x5x3 inches. Mix 1 cup sugar, the shortening, vanilla and eggs. Stir in flour, baking powder, baking soda, 1 teaspoon cinammon and salt until smooth (batter will be thick). Stir in apples, nuts and raisins. Spread in pan. Mix 1 tablespoon sugar and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon; sprinkle over batter. Bake 50 to 55 minutes or until toothpick inserted about 1 inch from center comes out clean. Immediately loosen sides of loaf from pan; remove from pan. Cool completly on wire rack before slicing.
clipped that one Lysie. You know how I am about recipes :).
I overload mine with apples. Maybe, 3 cups or more. Plus , I chop them coarse.
We are having more snow, far in excess of what was predicted and they also said there was only a 30% of ANY.
Molly, I heard Glenn Beck yesterday. He was excellent in talking about responsibility and how he felt like he was in a parallel universe.
This tax cheat thing has REALLY outraged people. Coupled with the fact that Gallup this morning says that 53% of the public either wants the stimulus bill killed or a major overhaul of what's in it, and I think Zero has come a cropper in only two weeks. Once people hear about millions for HONEYBEE INSURANCE in that bill, things sort of become clear to them.
Uh oh! We have a 30% chance of snow tonight and tomorrow. The sun is shining right now with a temp of 28 degrees.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, that sounds delicious.
You said it well about our parents being with us every day. No matter how long they’ve been gone.
Yum, that sounds good with more apples. I guess you don’t change the amount of any other ingredients when more apples are there?
Thanks for the breakfast, too. I used to stop on the way to work and get a breakfast burrito that also had potatoes in there. Like a skillet breakfast wrapped in a flour tortilla....lol. Now I gain weight just thinking of it.
Excellent selection of articles, maddening as they are. One line in O’s Orwellian Offensive says it about all of them: “The whole thing reeks of dictatorship.”
I want the Republicans to rant and make demands like the libs do. But without the MSM and TV news reporting it, the public would never be made aware. How soon, I wonder, will O followers begin their disenchantment???
I have had success adding just the extra apples.
Okay, that’s what I’ll do, then. I have to use rice flour and usually put added baking powder in a recipe to give it a lift but I’ll experiment.
Thanks for tracking it down and posting it.
You are welcome.
Are you listening to Mark Steyn on Rush’s show? Tom Daschle just withdrew his name and Mark says he had planned to do more of his show on him. Mark laughs so hard at his own statements, it makes me laugh even harder.
