That pretty yellow bird is a goldfinch. A big flock of them regularly hog the feeders. They are birds whose plummage dulls in winter and the yellow coming back in spring is a sign we look forward to.

L.J. Yes, I am very familiar with the ‘goldfinch’. We are lucky to have these darling birds. I am thrilled when they overload my feeders! When the weather warms up, I love sitting out on the patio and enjoy their antics. I have a little work to do on my feeders right away now.
To: Victoria Delsoul
Good music selection, Victoria! Will be enjoying them today! Thank you so much!
To: Lady Jag
Such a beautiful bird. I used to raise canaries, and the goldfinch is the closest wild bird to a canary, and in fact I believe related somehow??
We have small “ finch” feeders here and often get mobs of the finches during winter/spring.
I love birds...

Jaycee, we have the little yellow finches that literally come in groves to our feeders in January, and in early March each year Oreo’s migrate back into our area. At least that is what a neighor once told me that they were called. Sure look similar to the Goldfinch though.. hmmmmmm....

Very nice, Pippin, thank you.
To: pollywog
I am unfamiliar with the Oreo’s...I only know the yellow goldfinch. They are so pretty (and love to eat and eat.)
To: jaycee
Here is a Oreo...from what I have read though they are mostly in the eastern USA...but this is very much like what we have early spring here in Eagle Rock. Hmmmmm...
