A host of celebrities joined Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore to air their 2009 New Year's resolutions and pledges to the new U.S. President Barack Obama on Monday.
Stars like Eva Mendes, Nicole Richie, Ashlee Simpson, Courteney Cox, Eva Longoria Parker all agreed to make pledges on camera for a new MySpace.com campaign backed by Kutcher.
Inspired by the new President, in the video Simpson pledged to be "a great mother," Mendes offered to "volunteer more of my time to help children battling serious illnesses," and Longoria Parker promised to "plant 500 trees this year to help our planet."
Kutcher, who himself pledged on camera to "always represent my country with pride, dignity and honesty," says, "We are honoured to be working with MySpace to rally the entertainment industry to answer President-elect Barack Obama.s call to service.
"The Presidential Pledge is a platform for people across the nation and throughout the world to make a first-person commitment of service to our new President, articulating a specific intent or action to become an agent of positive change."
And his wife Moore, who produced and directed the MySpace.com video, perhaps took on the biggest pledge of all when she stood before the camera and stated, "I pledge to free one million people from slavery in the next five years."
No I’m sorry I don’t, in hindsight I wish I had kept a copy, but I never in my wildest dreams thought they would pull the comment. I did ask myspace why my comment was pulled and they have responded they are looking into it......LOL
Larry, Larry, Larry...You're so...Provincial. It's called "peace, love, and understanding"...If we just talk to evil dictators and slave merchants, they'll change their ways, don't you get that? King Barak certainly does.
/leftist condescending tone
And I pledge to find a cure for cancer working right here in my very own kitchen!!
That would still be less than the number of people President Bush freed from slavery.
Unless there is a second posting of that video on MySpace, they have disabled comments! So if they aren’t allowing comments, I gave it a thumbs down and tagged it as inappropriate! lol
Admin didn’t like the pic I left for you...
Touche.
I know of very few Hollyood types, but I know who this yahoo is, and I know that dignity is not something he is even remotely familiar with.
She’s going to free one million people from slavery? Good luck in Haiti and in those Arab lands, Ms. Moore.
Very nice.
For the greater good.
What kind of service could a moron like Ashton Kutcher provide, besides mowing a few lawns? One can tell just by looking at Kutcher that he hasn’t a brain to speak of. Every time he talks, I wonder if he has blonde roots. Next thing you know, Miss Teen South Carolina 2007 will be offering national service.
Maybe they’re planning on giving up their drugs for a week in honor of their Liberal God. I don’t plan to watch or pay for anything these creeps do.
One thought does come to mind for these Hollyweird Liberals. I’m sure they would all fit in well in the Obama Gestapo that I’m sure is already organized.
Too bad Ashlee Simpson isn’t a Republican like her sister.
Instead she marries some weirdo half-a-fag and they named their kid Bronx (as if they’d set foot there) Mowgli.
And the kid’s initials are B.M. They might as well paint a target on his back, “Come and beat the $hit out of me !”
I Pledge...
To buy a gas-guzzling old classic car with a V-8 engine and drive at high speeds, thumbing my nose at empty transit buses nobody wants to ride.
To ask for double-paper inside of plastic bags when I buy groceries.
To buy new toilets for my home from Canada, where you can still buy non water-saving toilets that you only have to flush once after taking a dump.
To eat lots of red meat.
Etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.
