And let me take this opportunity to say that of all the innumerable print and broadcast journalists who have interviewed me in the U.S. and abroad since I arrived on the scene nearly 20 years ago, Katie Couric was definitively the stupidest. As a guest on NBC's "Today" show during my 1992 book tour, I was astounded by Couric's small, humorless, agenda-ridden mind, still registered in that pinched, tinny monotone that makes me rush across the room to change stations whenever her banal mini-editorials blare out at 5 p.m. on the CBS radio network. And of course I would never spoil my dinner by tuning into Couric's TV evening news show. That sallow, wizened, drum-tight, cosmetic mummification look is not an appetite enhancer outside of Manhattan or L.A. There's many a moose in Alaska with greater charm and pizazz.

Camille Paglia [verbally] backhands Katie Couric (vanity excerpt) *PING*
Camille, don’t pull your punches. Tell us how you really feel.
Katie Couric was definitively the stupidest. ......................... Great, now she is qualified to run for Senator. Hey NY here’s your answer.
I don’t always agree with Camille, but I always love her delivery. In this case, I get to enjoy both.
katie is so annoying...
Unfortunately, so much of the footage was found to contain images such as the still seen here that it was rendered unusable and the project had to be s**tcanned.
Katie told interviewers later that this is how she spends much of her free time as this is where she gets some of her best program ideas. She cited her interview with Hillary Clinton as a prime example.
Katie is showing the limits of travel in this business on your knees.
Hard for me to believe, unless Paglia hasn't subjected herself to very many interviews. Katie graduated from the University of Virginia, and my experience there interacting with hundreds of students is that the students there are a pretty smart lot. Google other famous news names and you will find that they went to places like Sam Houston State University where I would guess that the overall academic level is quite a bit below that at UVa.

I know plenty of people who aced exam after exam and had lofty GPA’s in college (i.e. “book smart”), who I would still refer to as stupid. Katie probably fits in that category, along with being an elitist.
I’d like to ask Katie what she reads.....
Katie has a new hairdo. She also has something really strange going on with her eyebrows.....that space between them seems to grow....bad botox there, Katie?
Like the symbols teens make with their hands, their reinventing the alphabet mystifies me also. What does pwn3d mean? I don’t even know how to pronounce it.
So you equate being a Democrat as being bright?
owned.
Uh, okay.
Please!
You don't know what you are talking about. I have no idea how any students anywhere have done on their tests. I sit in on their classes. I talk to them and listen to what they have to say. They either make intelligent comments, or they don't.
Katie Couric, not only got to live on The Lawn at UVa but she was chosen to be the Head Resident. I really don't know what is involved in that designation, but the kids who get to live on The Lawn are generally the elites there. The (now former) Lawn kids I know personally are very sharp.

Some things are just impossible to explain!
Bill Clinton is a Democrat. Michael Kinsley is a Democrat. I respect their intelligence, but not their judgment or perhaps their intellectual honesty.
