Smith: 'Obama Has Changed The World'
15 January 2009 4:20 AM, PST
Will Smith is overjoyed Barack Obama is to take the reins at the White House next week - because America's first black president will "change the world forever".
The I Am Legend star has been a passionate supporter of the Democrat and appeared in a star-studded public service announcement advert to encourage people to go the polls.
He was delighted to see Obama elected in November and views the historic appointment as life changing.
He tells British morning show GMTV, "It's not just revolutionary, it's evolutionary. Never before in the history of the planet has someone, a group of people, moved from the slave class of empire to be elected to the top spot."
And Smith will always look back on the day Obama was elected with fond memories - it brought his whole family together to witness the momentous occasion.
He tells the BBC, "It's just such a huge moment for America and for the world, it's something I believed was real and possible for so long. I carried myself around the world in that way as if it could be true, possible, so there's a deep truth in me that was validated on (Election Day) November 4th.
"We watched it together as a family. With my kids it was no big deal, whereas for myself and for (wife) Jada, and even more so for our parents, who lived through the struggle for equality, it was so huge, but for our kids the world is different.
"(The world) has changed forever. The ideas and the fibres that are created for America have never been more true than today."

Obama has accomplished NOTHING and in fact was a complete unknown until about a 16 months ago.
Oh, yeah. I Am Legend, unlike previous Hollywood tellings of that story (and the original book), is all about a profound change in the world (thought to be near miraculous) which goes horribly wrong within just a few years.
Meanwhile, all across America, people are stocking up on necessities, getting ready for the zombies.
I hear ya.
Ther day after the election,we had one of our black coworkers come in singing “We Shall Overcome”. I’m like,WTH???? What does HE have to overcome? Stupidity,maybe....gullibility,definitely....but that’s about it.
I am so fed up with all this “victimhood”. You gotta wait until a black president is coronated before having some self-respect and responsibility? Good grief.
Because he endorses Obama, has nothing to do with what is in store for this troubled nation. They still know nothing about the real world. Either of them.
Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Resident Evil, I Am Legend et al.
I have a very, very dark idea about the "zombie meme". I think it's a shock image from the (near) future which causes ripples of perception to move back through time.
This is similar to CS Lewis' perception of the Crucifixion, which he described propagating backward through time to other "pagan" societies as "nice dreams", only on the opposite end of the emotional spectrum.
I don't think the dead are going to return to life and attack the living, but I do think the visual and functional behavior of the masses in the cities will be too similar to dismiss. Diseased, starving, ragged, aggressive, senseless, parasitic. Like today's Democrats but without foodstamps.
LOL!!!
Cuba got CHANGE in 1959, I think we have the Cuban celebration baby as the current Usuper-in-Chief!

Just a coincidence, I’m sure, but there is a remarking resemblance from the Kenyan to the Cuban kid pictured!
With regard to the similarities between zombies and the residents of the blue zones, I Am Legend might have accidentally hit fairly close to the mark with its depiction of "hyper-violence" as a major characteristic.
The older zombie flicks showed violence, but I Am Legend took the pack-hunting / predator angle to new heights.
Also, all of the blue zones are surrounded by suburban and rural regions, hostile territory for the blue-zone predators. Recall the helicopter flight out of the city in the original Dawn of the Dead? "Those rednecks are having themselves a field day."
Nah, I was down the Winchester, having a pint, waiting for this whole thing to blow over! :-)

Absolutely. And brilliant analysis!
"Cuz they still believe there's respect in dyin'"...
Cue the Vaudeville music...and throw the pies!
It would be nice of these people would stick to what they know and stay away from what they are clueless about. Entertain me, but don’t try and tell me what to think.
Thanks. Don’t get me started.
I don’t know what the biggest problem in the world is, but I used to think that Islamofascism vs Western civilization and the future Islamofascist nuking of America was it, but lately I’m thinking it’s either the media bias or the inability of most people to distinguish between reality and fantasy.
The lack of people’s ability to reason logically and not emotionally. Pseudo science and a lack of empiricism or pragmatism. Or all of the above.
It’s depressing and discouraging.
>Father, mostly Arabic
I’m no fan of Obama, but he’s no Arab. He’s half-Luo. Does he look Arab? I presume you’re referring to Kenneth Lamb’s allegations. IMO, he doesn’t strike me as a reliable source. He never gave any evidence to support his claims.
How could anyone forget a name like Toussaint Louverture?
“Depressing and discouraging doesn’t even begin to cover it. “
Thanks. You’re right. I can’t believe that so many of my friends (?) and some family members voted for Obambi. I’m stunned.
I don’t even know what to say to some of them now. I’ve stopped trying to enlighten them. They are detached from reality.
Stick to acting, Will. You sound like a half-wit when you stray from it.

Weren’t the Jews enslaved in Egypt (before Charlton Heston led them out)? Haven’t they had world leaders? Sounds like yet more speaking without thinking.
If this event makes a group feel better, without making anyone other group feel worse (Klan aside), then great. It was pretty obvious that the GOP was going to get swamped last November, but I held out hope. At least the guy who got in was not Hillary, and probably has little clue of what he is going to do, and maybe then will wield little power.
