BUZZARDS BAY - The training ship at Massachusetts Maritime Academy is a floating testament to public service and advancements in education. And now it has a new name that matches its mission. With cadets braving the cold and lining the decks of the 540-foot ship throughout a dedication ceremony yesterday on campus, a collection of dignitaries and more than 100 people looked on as the T.S. Enterprise became the Kennedy.

“Kennedy” and “Enterprise” are mutually exclusive concepts.

After Joe Jr. and JFK, has any other members of the Kennedy clan done any military service?

There was already a USS JFK, CV-67.
What else, other than “Massachusetts” would the Massachusetts Maritime Acamedy name their boat? Seeing how the USS Massachusetts, BB-59, is permanently docked in Battleship Cove in Fall River, Kennedy is a logical choice.

Of course, some might argue that name inferred that the student body was a bunch of space cadets or something...

I don’t know, naming a ship the USS Chappaquidick seems a bit offputting.

What?! A maritime training ship as opposed to an aircraft carrier?
