I could have taken him out with a .22 behind the ear. I remember several years ago a young woman was shot behind the ear with a .22 pistol execution style in a Seattle park.
It just knocked her out for a while. When she woke up with a little blood running down her neck, she called the cops and they picked up the boyfriend who shot her.
I guess if you're going to try to kill somebody with a little noisemaker, you'd better be sure you got the job done before you run off for a beer.

The police don't get to decide who gets held and who gets released. It's a good thing they don't, even though some judges and some juries make some pretty amazing decisions.
And of course these days we have legislators pressing prisons to turn people loose so as to lower costs. We have to spend that money on indolence, addiction, and bastardy, so we can't spend it on keeping the streets safe.

Just FYI,, this is far more common on a headshot than people commonly realize. Think hard little bowling ball,,on a swivel mount.
Its a very real ballistic oddity.

I witnessed a case where the perp was shot in the forehead and the bullet (.38) penetrated just the skin and slid around on his skull to the back of his head. The Doc lanced the skin and the slightly flattened bullet fell out. That’s why I carried nothing less than JHP .357s.

They've dealt with this dangerous mental case before? Dangerous enough for the police to shoot him?
Then they release him back on the streets?
Good work.
The police don't get to decide who gets held and who gets released.
I didn't say they did. Obviously the courts released this nut job. I didn't think I needed to spell that out.

WTF.They couldnt subdue him with a beanbag round so they go for a HEADSHOT? That's called "cutting to the chase" I guess.

He died a happy man at 93. The windshield was always
enough. He never had to snuff a bad guy. But, the other
three rounds were always available. You have to have a plan,
he would say.
