Rep. Mike Doyle, D-Pittsburgh, and Rep. Brian Bilbray, R-San Diego, dont just differ on what direction the country should go. No, their partisanship runs much deeper than that. Their juggernaut is over who wins the critically important Steelers-Chargers playoff game that will be held in Pittsburgh this Sunday.
At stake is a "friendly" wager that will mean lunch for the legislative staffs of whatever team comes up on top. If the Chargers win, Doyle will buy Primanti Brothers sandwiches and Iron City Beer for the meal. If the Steelers win, Bilbray will buy Rubios Mexican Food and Stone Brewery Beer.
The Chargers wont know what hit them Sunday said Doyle via e-mail, I almost feel bad about scoring a free lunch off Brian. Too bad they don't have a Primanti Brothers in San Diego."
Bilbray shot back saying, really? Come Sunday afternoon, the Chargers are going to

Yeah, so can wine. But try drinking some of that at a poker game and see what happens to you.
Aging for that beer is designed in to the beer because they know that nasty tree bark squeezins is just going to sit because nobody will drink it. And the longer it sits, the nastier it gets.
So, instead of saying “its old and nasty’ they say its “aged and distinguished”. The nastier-the-better mentality allows yuppies to eat that up hook line and sinker.
...and Christmas was good. As good as it gets, I reckon.
Since the Pirate Bowl (Raiders lose to Bucs in SB) the Raiders are 24 and 72 and the Bengals are 46 49 and 1. Almost twice as many wins.
roflmao.
wrong, but funny as heck
Al Davis Raiders overall record, 1960-2008(plus playoffs): 430-342-11 ...
Over all record is nice, but when talking about strength of teams today you need to look at now. Now the Raiders stink, and the Chiefs stink, and the Broncos are sinking. AFC West is no longer a power house division, it’s now a sad division.
I’m not cherry picking. In the last 5 years the AFC West is not a strong division, period. The weakening of that division has been lead by a completely meltdown by the Raiders and Chiefs. Simple truth. You can no longer say the AFC West is a powerhouse division, you can say it WAS, but for the majority of this century it has not been.
Perhaps I should refresh your memory ... the Broncos kicked the Jets butt at the Meadowlands ... first loss by the Jets in six games. In fact ESPN sports network was advising the Broncos not to even bother getting off the plane at Newark. Broncos win at the Georgia Dome ... the first loss for the Falcons at home this season (I was at the game) ... the AFC West kicks ass & that's why the Chargers are favored at Pittsburgh this weekend.
Whoa. Steelers and 30. Where can I get some of that action?
Two of em on a bet once, got sick as a dog but I won the bet !! ..... and yes I am in the Big Texan Record Book for their 72oz free steak as well !.......:o) Bad deal is if ya order a full Travis at Mom’s KnI and can’t eat it Mom gives ya a weenie sucker in a major presentation sort of embarrassing way !
I have never seen such a small little south valley dive thrive soooo long on that one dish menu.
damn now I’m hungry !

I was at SB last week...
“There are seven teams in the NFL with better records than San Diego that are not even in the playoffs!”
How many of them beat the Colts...in the playoffs?
I just looked into my personal crystal ball and it says....Steelers 27...Chargers 10. Sorry Chargers fans my crystal ball is never wrong with regard to the Steelers.
Don’t forget The Cleveland Clowns.
The important thing is, come early February the winning wager will be for some Geno’s cheesesteaks...
I just looked into my crystal ball too. And here’s what it spit out for all 4 games......
BAL@TEN(-3)-——Amother stellar defensive performance coming up. Smash and Dash is cooked this time around. RAVENS 20 TITANS 13
ARZ@CAR(-10)-——I like the offensive makeups of both squads. I think experience and the ability of Carolina’s two headed RB’s to control the ball end up winning in the end. And I just don’t know that Edge james will have the same impact as last week. A most entertaining game that the Panthers win late. CARDINALS 24 PANTHERS 28
PHI@NYG(-4)———Know what I think? This is your pick of the season here. The backyard brawl lives up to all the hype, and then some. Donovan McNabb must stay upright in this one, and Brian Westbrook has to touch the ball at least 25 times. Both happen. Also. Brandon Jacobs will not have the kind of day Brian will, and since Eli doesn’t have that tall, physical receiver to go to(unless you think Amani Toomer fits the bill)I see big mistakes leading the agressive Iggle D to force the issue enough to move on. IGGLES 23 GIANTS 17
And last but not least......
SD@PIT(-6,5)-——IMHO, the easiest of the 4 picks. No LT, sorry Darren Sproles, love ya’ but that Steel D won’t allow you those quick hits that turn to big plays. And Philip Rivers, I wish you good health as you’re on your back all evening long. Not that Ben Rothlisburger is going to remind anyone of an MVP, enough plays are there for him to make. And the D helps out with at least 1 score. In the prelude to season 7 of 24, the Iron city will host the AFC Champoinship in an all AFC North battle.
CHARGERS 13 STILLERS 24
And another thing. If the Bengals suck, the Browns, well look at my tagline. Anytime a team flees a city and then fleece the fans the way the NFL, this city, and the team’s organization did, AND THE FANS BUY INTO IT LIKE THE SHEEP THEY ARE, then you have, psst look at the tagline again.
Hoe do the Steelers win with a QB who is seeing double and hearing footsteps every play? And with no running game? And with no pass protection?
Roth throws 3 intercepts and passes at 40%. And that’s before he’s carried off the field on another stretcher. Bring in the new kid and see what he can do.
The Steelers did... three years ago -- in Indy. ;~))
LOL. There is no "new kid". There is Brian Leftwich, not bad if you need him -- but I would like to remind you that Big Ben already has more wins than any QB in NFL history in his first five years.
I have no idea what to expect Sunday. Personally, I wouldn't bet on this game because the Chargers are hot and the Steelers O-line has been stinking the place out recently. But somehow, that Steeler team finds a way to win games they seem to have no business winning and Big Ben has been one of the major factors in those wins.
I'm an old timer, and Ben kind of reminds me of Bobby Layne (or perhaps Elway) in his ability to somehow pull them out in the last second.
Whatever.. when you watch the Steelers play this year, it seems it's never over --- till it's over. ;~))
