I miss the Olden Days.
What may be the real winner here, is if someone comes up with the means to “rapidly impress” the mind with the data found in books.
Think of it as eidetic memory that could then be intellectually digested at leisure. Think an iPod with hundreds of books in it, being fed into your mind at a regular rate.

Their purpose is a little bit more than nefarious tracking of who reads what. If the population ever becomes totally invested in reading their books, novels etc. from a PC, then Google becomes the master censor. Ideas are powerful, ideas that can be censored before they are related are not.
