Good evening, and welcome to the new week's thread.
P-E Obama must find a replacement for Bill Richardson, Sec-Commerce designate, who withdrew his name Sunday.
Israel continues its incursions and attacks on Palestinian terrorists, AKA Hamas, in Gaza.
And many of us regroup after a busy season with Family and Friends in December.
I wonder if it is an old German saying?
You crack me up!
I snowblowed and was able to get the car out. I was amazed at how little snow it was stuck in. Two inches..tops. Slushy snow, though.
Must get new tires. These stink!
Thank you.
Asking forgiveness before I do this, but I couldn’t resist....
Presidents Lunch at the White House
President-elect Barack Obama is welcomed by President George W. Bush for a meeting at the White House in Washington, Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, with former presidents, from left, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and Jimmy Carter. SideBar
WASHINGTON — President-elect Barack Obama hailed a rare Oval Office gathering of all U.S. presidents as extraordinary on Wednesday, while President George W. Bush wished him well and pledged that the office “transcends the individual.”
“I just want to thank the president for hosting us,” the president-elect said, flanked by former President George H.W. Bush on one side and his son on the other.
Presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter, both smiling broadly, stood with them.
“All the gentlemen here understand both the pressures and possibilities of this office,” Obama said. “For me to have the opportunity to get advice, good counsel and fellowship with these individuals is extraordinary.”
In a swift photo opportunity, the current president wished Obama well before all five men headed off for a private lunch.
“I want to thank the president-elect for joining the ex-presidents for lunch,” Bush said, even though he’s not quite a member of that club yet.
“One message that I have and I think we all share is that we want you to succeed, whether we’re Democrat or Republican we care deeply about this country,” Bush said. “All of us who have served in this office understand that the office itself transcends the individual.”
Bush and Obama also met privately for roughly 30 minutes.
Sounds like they do. Good for you to achieve that goal. Is Greg working very far away today?
Thank you.
He is at his base office, Albany, NY. I hope the snow lets up before he travels home.
RIP. As I’m sure he will. Heaven welcomes him.
Spring is in the air?? LOL
(Grasping at straws here....)
Got stuck in the driveway!
Snowblowed the driveway! Got unstuck.
Sarah called to tell me she was stuck on the same road she hit the ice.
Okay! I'm on my way with tires that are horrible in the winter..(bought them with the car)
I will save the day!!
Yes! Was able to get out of the driveway and I'm cruising and confident UNTIL..the dreaded Shortcut road!
Huh! She's not there. Someone helped her get out...thank goodness.
She called me ...she's at work.
*big sigh of relief*
As I look back, not at the time but..I find all these things humorous!
Please, accept my apologizes if I don't post prayers daily. They are never ending!
I just got back from Barnes & Noble; had some gift cards to use up. So I got some fun stuff to read and then stopped at the in-store Starbucks and got myself a cranberry/orange scone and a pumpkin spice latte. Yummy. Now I'm off to teach lessons.
Enjoy the rest of your day, and .......................
I always dance.. on the floor, in my head...etc. I’m a dancin’ fool...along with early rising...it’s in my genes. :-)
Thank you.
No apologies are necessary. It sounds like you’re havening an adventurous birthday.
Did anyone listen to Rush today talk about the Starbucks new plane? I cracked up when he said it was no one's business that they bought a plane (there is more to the story,but...) I took it to mean he was giving the dims what for!
