Good evening, and welcome to the new week's thread.
P-E Obama must find a replacement for Bill Richardson, Sec-Commerce designate, who withdrew his name Sunday.
Israel continues its incursions and attacks on Palestinian terrorists, AKA Hamas, in Gaza.
And many of us regroup after a busy season with Family and Friends in December.
There.
Tradition is a good thing if its good. In this case it's good.
Ice all over here. Thankfully, we have power, still.
Well, yeah. LOL!
Ice storms are the worst. I'll send you a picture of my daffodils. They may open tomorrow.
Mine looks okay.
I had good teachers. But you must remember, I am only a substitute. I’m not a professional.
Hi kassie! I just got home. I’m doing fine. Enjoying the freedom of a healed foot?
Not really having trouble sleeping at 2 am. It’s when I wake up at 1130 and don’t go back to sleep before 2 am get up time. That has happened 2 nights in a row.
My husband just installed the latest IE, and it seems to working fine, thank goodness!
Listened to Limbaugh awhile today, and he was really slamming the Dems and their spendaholic plans, and pushing the Rs to hold the line.
Now Robert Samuelson made some points yesterday talking with Bennett: he argued that some stimulus spending was necessary to prime the pump, but the programs should only be temporary, not permament. Well, the Dems don't do temporary...they are looking to hold on to power forever.
Well, he drove up here last night; stayed at his best buddy's house; showed up on our doorstep this morning; he had just gotten a call from his Master Sgt informing him that he needs to report tomorrow morning @ 8:00 a.m. to an armory in the southern part of the state. He will learn his duties upon arrival.
So, the big 10-day break turned into a 1 day break. He slept most of the day, we ordered sub sandwiches from our favorite little shoppe, and he is now on his way back to Madison.
The snafu at McCoy apparently happened because the officer in charge of making sure everybody got where they had to go...........had just given birth.:-)
And nobody else knew what was going on.
Which just goes to show that even in the Army it takes a woman to keep things organized and get people where they're supposed to go.;-)
p.s. He said there was a group of guys from Georgia who arrived at McCoy yesterday........and were already complaining loudly about the cold....and it was WARM yesterday! (20's). Wait 'till it drops below zero!!:-)
I hate doing that. That’s why I’ve been staying up until 2300 and 2330. Otherwise, it is dancing at midnight!
News from Iraq: UW-Green Bay grad has hand in soccer game
An interesting story came our way today… Army Capt. Joe Dumas, a 2003 grad who majored in history, played a role in bringing a greater sense of normalcy to a war-torn town in Iraq. Dumas, a platoon leader for the Stryker Brigade, 2nd Squadron, 14th U.S. Calvary (aka ‘Strykehorse!’), secured a soccer field so U.S. troops could play Iraqi citizens in a soccer tournament. Dumas was in charge of security for the event, which took a year of planning and took place in the town of Taji, just north of Baghdad. It was the first of its kind and size since the U.S. entered Iraq in 2003. Soldiers took off their body armor, Sunni and Shia Muslims competed as teammates and children had something to cheer about around the soccer field.
Typical, just typical. The guys from Georgia are right. Below zero is just not of God.
If that doesn't show up, I'll post it again. This is linked from Facebook.
This was a flowing tower of fruit at their Christmas celebration.
From today's meeting at the White House.
Re: an earlier comment of yours: I for one am glad to hear he's "bored.":-)
I am, too. The boreder, the better.
Mere words cannot contain the depth of my feeling looking at that picture.
I posted it strictly for its historical value.
MozartLover, I needed perking up today, and so played Mozart's glorious Mass in C Minor...Gosh I love that work. Instant backbone strengthening & day brightener!
Bev, watching TWC, and the stories coming out of the n.w....rising rivers, melting snow..lotsa rain. Please be careful as you go around.
