Quilt of USA

Quilt

Life is like a patchwork quilt
put together by time
part of yours is quilted
also part of mine.
The part we quilt together
will have beauty to behold
Fashioned with our love that's red
bound with a band of gold.
There will be many little patches
some gray and some blue
But the thread that binds them together
is the love I have for you.
So as you pledge your love to me
and I pledge mine to you
we'll be safe beneath this quilt of love
All our whole lives through.

That is lovely, Yorkie. I’ve read a poem or two of hers but not the one about Magic. It’s a keeper to add to my favorites, thank you!

...but the women are mostly disappointing.

Yeah, pretty much.

I guess I am too old to 'get it', but since when has a foul mouth on a woman (or a man, for that matter) and overtly suggestive behavior been attractive and alluring? I see it more and more, especially with women, and I just don't get it. Do they think men find this attractive? Maybe men do, maybe I am just completely out of touch. LOL

Meg, I would take a little recipe like this and add what I wanted and leave out what I didn't want. The carrots look attractive in it and bet they would be good. I believe the Canola oil may be used as it helps thicken. Frankly, I would use Crisco or Wesson oil, if thats what is on hand. Use your ham in place of the smoked turkey, etc.

Four meal size servings: 1 pound dried baby lima beans, soaked over night 2 carrots, finely chopped 2 small – medium onions, finely chopped ½ pound smoked turkey in a thick slice, cut into ½ inch cubes 2 tablespoons canola oil ¼ - ½ teaspoon cayenne 1 bay leaf 2 cups chicken stock, plus 1 qt water (or use all water) Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste

It looks fine to me. I'm trying to figure out what the problem is. Your date on the left is much smaller than the font used for the poem. Looks to me like it always looks.

Now, the other day, the poem ended up being the same font size as the date. It was little tiny and hard to read. Don't remember which day it was now.

Thank you, Billie!

I had something pretty to send you and I haven’t been able to find it! I laughed at a post you made the other day about your desk always being neat ~~cough~~ and I looked at the stuff in my floor where I was cleaning out the computer cabinet and desk and I haven’t finished it yet! Deciding what to throw away or keep are hard decisions for me~~LOL~~

I always try to put the date on the Opening Graphic, as much for myself as anyone. I try to use a -3 font so it does not distract from the Opening. For awhile I used a +1 font for all other text but tried to change it to default on recent posts.

I probably should make up my mind and quit fooling with it. LOL

Hey ... it is 51 degrees here now!!! Yeah .... that means fog tonight.

Have you seen the news about the demonstrations on our corner? I’m kinda happy that we cancelled our rally last week. It would have been Jim, Sheila, FriendAnn, Marissa and me. Don’t know that we could have held our corner without help.

No, I haven't been keeping up with the news. What the heck are the malcontents demonstrating about now? Obama was elected and he's going to fix everything. So, what is the problem NOW and what are we supposed to do about it?

I am always behind the times, very traditional in many ways, etc. I doubt they are going to sit around talking books like we do... and our cats:o)

Yummy, but yes I would substitute another oil or shortening for canola. I do not like it, might use a mild olive oil.
