Yummy, but yes I would substitute another oil or shortening for canola. I do not like it, might use a mild olive oil.
We have been discussing lima bean soup for several days and now I am craving it. Actually we have discussed all kinds of soups. I believe you were here for some of that, weren’t you? I am getting hungry now. Will warm up some chili, I guess.
I use a vegetable oil or Crisco. Crisco because that is what my Mom used. I’ve never tried olive oil but it would probably be very good. We use olive oil a lot.
I very seldom have Crisco on hand.
