No, I didn't hear or see it.

Let's say it loud: ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION, not only unchecked and rampant, but seemingly encouraged.

The medical care costs alone could do it. The education costs alone could do it. On and on, it's no wonder.

It's time to load up the wagon train, and head on out.

Grimly yours,
La 'Dita

I can add something to that before /rant off

The unfriendly environment for business due to taxes and more taxes and fees and regulations is a huge factor, and so are unions, especially the SEIU which has a death grip on all government jobs, state, county, city, etc.

It was a long time ago already that Dwight Yoakam called us the “late, great Golden State”...:-(

You know how I love to hurry spring..

There is a cherry tree in bloom a couple miles south of me, down by Ballona Creek. I could hardly believe it, smells so lovely....

It is sad.

Yes, it is, MEG. I once loved this state. Now, all I want to do is get out of here. Like dita said, load up our wagons and head out. If only we could!

Let's see how they manage when push comes to shove and the liberals realize it's a "them or us" situation. We'll see how long they continue to embrace the illegal alien cause when they finally get it through their heads that there is no longer enough money to go around. I believe that day has come. They just don't realize it yet.

I feel so nostalgic about the old days, enjoying the natural beauty of this state. We have so much of it, and the gorgeous weather, couldn’t be better.

I was telling GeeBee recently about my long ago friend, Doris Davenport. I can give her real name because she has passed on. She was once an up and coming actress in the heyday of Hollywood, but was terribly injured in a car crash and never got parts again.

She and I became neighbors in the mid-’60s. She was in her 50s and I in my 20s but we became fast friends. She knew how to live. When we both had time off (and wanted to get away from all our suitors, haha), we drove all the way up the coast taking our time. At that time, there was very little development in Cambria (it was called Cambria Pines) and that was a great overnight stop. You could hear the waves of the ocean at night.

We stopped in Solvang, bought cheese, bread and wine, drove all the way up to San Francisco. Those were easy times, where you could change itinerary spontaneously.

I have travelled the coast a few more times, Jade Cove being a favorite discovery also, and am glad I have those memories.

Meg, I also spent many a lovely day or weekend in Santa Barbara, shopping the old State Street and staying in B’n’Bs, going to the botanical gardens and the Mission.

The unfriendly environment for business due to taxes and more taxes and fees and regulations is a huge factor, and so are unions, especially the SEIU which has a death grip on all government jobs, state, county, city, etc.

You are right. Why would any business stay here if they could relocate to a more business friendly state, without the high taxes, government red tape and regualtion and out of control unions? Many of the producers have already left and more are pulling out everyday. We would pull our business out of here in a nano-second if we could get all of our customers to come with us.

We just bought a HDTV. The exact same TV that we were considering at Best Buy was $75 less by ordering it from tigerdirect.com. That $75 savings was even AFTER we paid shipping on the TV. We avoided an 8.25% CA sales tax, plus CA's $25 "recycle fee". Of course, I know the day of being able to do that will soon be over. The states and Congress are feverishly scheming to figure out how they can to get their greedy mitts on the internet and start taxing every sale. It's only a matter of time.

Awwwwww........dita, you are making me homesick for these places I haven't been in a long time. I love Solvang and Cambria and Santa Barbara, of course. Been way too long since I have been any of those places.

California is still such a beautiful place, most parts of it. It makes me sick that all I want to do is leave.

Whoever build the snowman ....

Photoshop also treats acrophobics. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge; know what I mean? Know what I mean?

Snowflakes are mindboggling. It's sad that something so beautiful is so fragile.
