As per the request of many, here's a holiday gathering place for FReeper dog lovers...grab some hot cider, have a seat in front of the fire with your faithful companion curled up at your feet and tell your dog stories here, share your pics, and enjoy!
This is a friendly gathering, and is NOT the place to bash pit bulls, argue about whether dogs were created or evolved, etc. Those that can't keep a muzzle on it will end up in the doghouse.
Although this is primarily for members of the FReeper Doggie Ping List, non-members who happen to stray in will be welcome and are also invited to post pics of your iguanas, ferrets, exotic fish or whatever other furred, feathered or finned companions you'd care to share with us.
As some of you know, I've been working back in the northeast for a few months and found some time in my schedule to make a pilgrammage to New Skete Monastery on Saturday morning. I'll look forward to all the pics and pet stories tomorrow evening when I get back!
Enjoy!!
Trying again to post the pic...

My wife and I always joke that if we had never seen a dog before and came upon one by chance in the woods, we would describe it as a hairy monster with big teeth. This is my hairy monster and he has slept at the foot of my bed for nine years. He is the protector of my family when I am away and the embodiment of all the qualities I look for in a friend.
Miss Lucy became available and needed a home.
We had lost our two Black Labs in the course of two years to old age. One of my husband’s clients is a dog breeder. We took the last puppy from the litter and the breeder was nice enough to hold her for us for a number of months while we cared for my BIL’s dog while he and his family were relocating from MN to WI for a job.
That, and we were finally ready for another addition to the family. :)
We also have two adopted cats (sisters; Foster Kitties for 4 years until they came to live with us); the transition has been hard on them, but while there has been a lot of spitting and hissing, I DID catch one of the cats rubbing up against Miss Lucy today.
There will be Peace in the Valley...eventually! :)
They do make you feel more secure. When I’m away I know that Max and Sasha (our priss) will defend my girls. On the flip side of it, I suspect that should I come under attack, Max will sit there and laugh at me. Sigh.

The above is Tidbit inall her undignified glory.....lol
What a wonderful ornament!! Don’t tell Tidbir I said that...she probably has the heart of a lion!)
Tidbir=Tidbit
Actually, she does rule the place. ALl she has to do is bark at the wolves and she puts them in their place.
Fools they are.... : ) It cracks me up everytime she goes out around them....
I really have to do a quick video and post it. Tid weighs all of 5 lbs...Storm and Shy, about 100 each. Tid rules the homestead. She goes out, walks into the enclosure, yips and the wolves are on their backs showing that she is the dominant one.
Honestly, at times it is pathtic to watch!!!
pathetic...
oh, whatever....
I can just imagine it. You really do need to catch it on video.
Great video! Suzi Q is beautiful.
I’m glad Lucy found you guys.
I’m going through the trials of integrating a cat into the pack too. So far it has been less than a rousing success.
Very cute.
She looks like the incarnation of mischief.
I think we’re related!!!!! Nixon looks like Sparky’s relative, the resemblance is striking!
I always told Sparky he was the best darn lookin dog this side of the Mississippi!
Nixon is just as handsome!
Sparky was 15 years old when the Lord took him to Rainbow Bridge. He FINALLY slowed down a bit at about 13, he always had none-stop fun !
He’s a boy ; ) He can’t help it if he’s a pretty boy.
