As per the request of many, here's a holiday gathering place for FReeper dog lovers...grab some hot cider, have a seat in front of the fire with your faithful companion curled up at your feet and tell your dog stories here, share your pics, and enjoy!
This is a friendly gathering, and is NOT the place to bash pit bulls, argue about whether dogs were created or evolved, etc. Those that can't keep a muzzle on it will end up in the doghouse.
Although this is primarily for members of the FReeper Doggie Ping List, non-members who happen to stray in will be welcome and are also invited to post pics of your iguanas, ferrets, exotic fish or whatever other furred, feathered or finned companions you'd care to share with us.
As some of you know, I've been working back in the northeast for a few months and found some time in my schedule to make a pilgrammage to New Skete Monastery on Saturday morning. I'll look forward to all the pics and pet stories tomorrow evening when I get back!
Enjoy!!
Patience, Jackie was an emotional wreck when we got her.
Spent much of her time crawling on her belly because she was to scared to walk.
She is still timid by nature but she has grown into a fine dog .
I’m on rescue 3 and 4 .
Best dog in the world was a rescue and I still miss her every day.
Many wonderful dogs are hanging around shelters with no particular pedigree.
Must be great to take your dog along.
We occasionally have a dog in the office on Sundays.
Merry Christmas to all Yellow Lab owners! I've got my first after years of Black Labs ('Miss Lucy' who is nearly 8 months and nearly trained!) and we're just loving her up. Good Girl! Woof!
“Lord, why me?”
Thanks for posting Pet Finder! Our family has lots of pets from that site!!
I’m a light weight in the technology dept.
This is Max cuddling with our daughter. I still can't believe how much he adores her... but I'm glad. It's an extra sense of security for me.
Here is our little miss priss. She's a German Shepherd crossed with a Whippet. When she steps out the back door, the squirrels shiver in fear... LOL
Both of our dogs are rescues. They are our furry children.
Mike
I know that tune.
Softer light seems to work better than sunlight.
Thanks for dropping by. Ms. Lucy is a doll!
She is a beauty, Dianna.
Still full of the puppy hijinks?
Hi everyone!
Here’s a little you tube video I did of my sweet Sheltie fur-kid, Suzi Q! Enjoy! And Happy Holidays to everyone too!

She actually had her first ‘Big Girl Bark’ this week. She looked around like, “Did THAT come out of ME?” LOL!
Our Basset Hound just adores her and vice versa. They’re quite a pair with ‘Rufus the Doofus’ immediately surrendering to her every whim and scheme...even when he KNOWS in his doggy heart and mind that it’s a bad idea. ;)
It's amazing how much comfort and safety dogs can bring with them. When the movie "Blair Witch Project" came out I went to see it with my (now ex-)wife. When we got back home from the theater, I told her I was going to walk to the corner store and get some cigarettes. I normally would take Timber with me and have him wait outside when I went to the store. She was so scared by the movie she stated, "You're not taking Timber with you." On my current sojourn to the northeast, I'm spending a lot of my time in and around NYC, and Ranger is staying with my folks over in western PA. Last month my dad went into the hospital get his gall bladder removed and they ended up admitting him for a few days. I called my mom and told her that if Ranger was too much for her to handle alone, I'd make arrangements to put him in a kennel for a few days. With my dad in the hospital, she was glad just to have him in the house with her.
I have only been to Sequoia National Park once in 1952. I think I need to see that part of the world again.
They look like my departed Schnitzel.
Magnificent!
Nothing better than having a pair of dogs that are best friends.
Why did you switch from blacks to yellow’s?
I sure know. I never did get but a handful of photos of my dobermans and I very much regret that.
<.imgsrc="http://i360.photobucket.com/albums/oo43/ericchanson/IMGP0132.jpg"> My wife and I always joke that if we had never seen a dog before and came upon one by chance in the woods, we would describe it as a hairy monster with big teeth. This is my hairy monster and he has slept at the foot of my bed for nine years. He is the protector of my family when I am away and the embodiment of all the qualities I look for in a friend.
