Hello!
P-E Obama will announce major foreign policy choices at a news conference Monday a.m.
The death toll in the Mumbai massacres is expected to rise...
and the Christmas shopping period may have gotten off to a stronger-than-expected start.
Hi, there. I’ve been missing you. I’m working now to get things squared away for our trip in January. I’m ignoring all political news. My attention is on AU’s sports department little soap opera and the story Rush was talking about concerning the fat dog being frozen to the sidewalk.
The dog survived the initial freezing due to its fat. It is now under observation at a vet’s.
So is this trip when you go back to your ‘home away from home’ for your work and I think I read that you won’t be back to the States until 2011? Are you making lists like crazy or because you have done it before, previous lists are useful?
I missed the fat dog story. It’s good to know my extra fat is protective in case I am ever in danger of being frozen to the sidewalk.
LOL!. Me, too, Grayno. I could survive for days!!!
I’m selfishly sad that you’re leaving..........I worry!
Yes. We’ll be traveling to Sentani, Papua Indonesia and our next furlough is January 2011. I/we may return prior to that for things like JT’s return from the sandbox (God will have to gift us with that trip) and the youngest’s maxillofacial surgery (that, too, needs to be gifted).
It is ironic that I hate traveling.
There is a thread on the fat dog story somewhere. Rush is making us wait for his take on it until Monday.
All is well down your way? I’m assuming no chance of snow there in the next couple of days. I think we’re suppose to have snow flurries tomorrow. Ski resorts here are sure praying for snow—usually some skiing over the Thanksgiving break, but not this year.
Waiting for son-in-law to pick up kids. Love watching them but do like when Friday comes.
Don’t worry. We’ll be just as safe there as we are here.
Your travel-airplane, family, diving, etc. adventures are terrific to read about. I just flew for he first time three years ago—and it was just a couple hour flight.
Lots for you to think about with your son’s deployment and daughter’s eventual surgery, plus getting ready for being away for so long.
It was sunny and 75* here today. I will miss it as of next week when we’ll fly north for a month. Brrrrrrrrrrr.....It was 11* in Northern IL today!
;o/
Sure do hope you’re feeling better this evening!
#1 and #2 grandsons sent home with their dad and husband and I are thinking about heading out to the bookstore. Looking to buy a children’s nativity story for the little #3 grandson’s first Christmas. Found out our son and wife are expecting a baby boy in April so will have four grandsons then!
Anyway, hoping you all have a great weekend—snow if you like it and no snow if you don’t. Will check back in on the weekend thread.
Actually, we’re not going to be getting that much ready. We’ve got this house here, which my daughters are administering and we have a house over there which someone else is subletting right now. We keep them both established and don’t move much stuff back and forth.
Things have changed in the last 15 years and most stuff that we want can be purchased in either place.
Except for vanilla and almonds.
And nice ladies underwear and nice sheets and nice towels.
Congratulations are your new, yet-to-be-seen grandbabies. What a happy time!
I like that word, "Hallelujah." I say it all the time, but can't spell it.
Hallelujah for copy and paste!

I’m watching one of my favorite House episodes (while I’m working on putting some still pics as a movie). This is one where he and Cuddy are flying back from Asia and he announces ~~ just past the point of no return ~~ that everyone who ate the seafood now has food poisoning. I’ve seen the episode before. It is now a psychosomatic illness EXCEPT for the initial patient. He is suffering from the bends. But I just cringe over all this because it is very easy to imagine this sort of thing happening to me. Note to self: never, ever, never-ever fly within 24 hours after surfacing from a dive.
But the whole plane of people, including Cuddy, becomes sick, just because House made a stupid announcement.
Also, never let House anywhere close to any patients. He is wrong, seriously wrong, many times before he finally gets the diagnosis right.
I can understand the sympathetic sickness though. I’m so sympathetic that I cannot, never could, take care of my kids when their tummies were upset. I had to step outside of the ER waiting room when someone came in who was suffering from some breathing problem which made gagging noises. The power of suggestion. I am so sensitive.
LOL!
We have just returned from a 2 mi trip to town to eat. It is sleeting (and freezing on the windshield)
Nasty stuff.

Glad you are home safe. Reminds me of a story. In '75 I was driving from Junction City KS (outside Ft. Riley) to Manhattan KS. A buddy and I were in my new Mustang GT cruising down I70, quickly approaching what appeared to be a salt truck from DOT. Not thinking (heck, we were PFCs for crying out loud), I pulled around the DOT truck, with much acceleration, promptly finding myself, my friend, and the Mustang doing 360s at 80 mph down the center lane. Stopped traffic both ways it did. It would have probably stopped my heart if I wasn't 23 yrs old at the time...
May you now sleep well, with visions of sugar plums dancing in your head...zzz

Good Grief!
I got chilled while we were out, and am just now beginning to warm up. I may go climb into the last waterbed standing in the house to finish thawing out.
G’nite
Now I'm watching "In the Good Old Summer Time." The youngest has vowed she will never watch "You've Got Mail" again. "What a ripoff," were her words. I love Buster Keaton.
And the other good actors.
Thanks. I am.:)
