Order was simultaneously restored and destroyed here Saturday night.
Standard protocol in the Big 12 is this: Oklahoma owns teams like Texas Tech when they come to Owen Field. The challenge to that tradition was established when the undefeated, nouveau riche Red Raiders came to town ranked higher (2nd) than the once-beaten, old-money home team (fifth). The challenge was eliminated in an old-school, name-the-score massacre of a Red Raiders team that reverted to classic form -- too soft up front, and too intimidated to win a huge showdown on the road. And this shocking 65-21 beatdown gives "Big Game" Bob Stoops his nickname back

From your link “Missouri projected to be in the Cotton bowl?”
But Missouri has 2 more games. Kansas next week. And for the big 12 Championship Vs who? Texas Texas Tech or Oklahoma. Who is the Big 12 south Champion? What is the tie breaker?
Now if Missouri wins the Big 12 Championship Vs Texas, they will avenge the loss that shot the chance at #1.
With all 3 Big 12 south teams ranked 2,4,5, and Missouri Ranked 14, a win by Missouri should elevate them into the top 10 and a BCS game.
Who do we want? I would think Oklahoma. A win would avenge the 2 losses last year. A rematch against Texas would be good. But since Tech beat Texas and Ok beat Tech, and didn’t Texas beat Ok, the team with the highest BCS rank will be the Big 12 South Champ. Who will it be vs Missouri?
And if Missouri wins the Big 12 outright, then won’t they end up with the best BCS ranking of the 4 teams?
I guess people with more money than I will make the choice.
Either way, I’ll be rooting for Black and Gold.
Thanks - it was a blowout for sure. But we are still 10-1 like Texas and OU so it has been a great season.
His choice would probably be Northwestern, since he owes Chicago his career.
If the season were to end today with the BCS Standings the way they are, both the Utes and BSU would qualify for a spot in a BCS game. However, only the highest of the two teams (in this case UTAH), gets in automatically. Anyone else that qualifies gets thrown into the pool of at-large teams.
If those matchups hold up, there are going to be some really lousy games this bowl season. (And, by lousy, I mean blowouts.)
There’s no debate. Texas beat Oklahoma.
A win by Missouri makes them the Big XII champion and automatically puts them in a BCS game. Then the South team that didn't get to go to the Big XII title game would very likely play for the National Title. (against Florida).
Texas Tech beat Texas and should be ranked higher than them.
See what I did there?
I don't know - Alabama/Texas and Oklahoma/Florida look like good games. USC/Penn State would be better, but Oregon State would have to lose. Oklahoma State/Cal would be a nice matchup, too.
Agreed. But what about USC - Utah, FSU - Texas Tech, Ga Tech - KY, Oregon - Notre Dame - all have blowout potential. And BC - Cincinatti in the Orange Bowl?
Texas Tech beat Texas and should be ranked higher than them.
And OU destroyed Tech...
Now that the BCS is out and has Texas ranked ahead of OU, thanks to the stupid Harris and Coaches polls putting OU behind Florida (GRRRR), it looks like it won't be OU unless Baylor pulls out some kind of miracle next week against UT, because the tie-breaker in the Big 12 falls to the BCS rankings. I hate the BCS.
I just killed a bottle of Chivas last month, 18 year one too. Its my favorite scotch.
If OU throttles OSU, like they should, they still have a chance to jump Texas. Especially if Texas struggles against aTm.
I hope that as time goes by you get the fanatical bug neccesarry to attend that game! The Texas OU games, and the Thanksgiving game against Nebraska are my fondest memories growing up. We don’t have illegals playing at OU, we have the best players that good American money can buy!
Try the Ardmore-it’s the only single malt I ever cared for. The flavor is amazing.
Yee haw! What a game! I recorded it to watch a second time. :-)
