“ASCO to add 328 jobs in Davidson”

SNIPPET: “ASCO Power Technologies has received a state Job Development Investment Grant to expand its operations in the Davidson County town of Welcome.

ASCO, which makes emergency and standby power transfer equipment, says it will invest $11.4 million and add 328 jobs over five years. The company is a subsidiary of electronics giant Emerson and is based in New Jersey.

The state awarded a JDIG that could be worth up to $2.5 million to ASCO if the company hits its job creation targets. County-level incentives totaled $160,000, according to Steve Googe, executive director of the Davidson County Economic Development Corp.

The office of Gov. Bev Perdue says the new jobs will pay an average of $43,924 per year, not including benefits, well above Davidson County’s average wage $29,432.”
