VINELAND, N.J. - November 21, 2008 - (WPVI) -- She was an adult film star who went by the name Crystal Gunns. But she reportedly says that's part of her past.
She now an aid at D'Ippolito Elementary in Vineland, New Jersey, and that has some parents furious.
"I understand it's her personal life, but I don't feel someone with that background should be working with young children at all," said preschool teacher Maria Martin.
Crystal Gunns is apparently retired. She's now Louisa Tuck, a cafeteria and playground aide at D'Ippolito Elementary.
They were stunned.
A background check turned up nothing. They wanted to take action, but lawyers advised them not to. Tuck hadn't done anything illegal.
Some parents agree.
"It's in her past. We all do things in our past. And as long as she's not interfering with any kids, I don't see any problem with it," said Raul Cordova of Vineland, N.J.
Action News was unable to reach Tuck. She also works at the local YMCA. A co-worker described her as a great person.
In a interview with a local newspaper, Tuck defended her ability to work around children despite her past career.

The school superintendent says the district is investigating all of it's options to see what sort of recourse it has.

I think Christians should discern forgiveness carefully.
Actually, we addressed that very thing once.

I didn’t state I whether I was a Christian or not, it was some assumption (and we know what happens when you assume) put forward by a babbling, detective-wannabe but that’s neither here nor there on this question.
Many get bothered when the media focuses on the religious when they do something wrong but overlook a coach, teacher, etc., who commits the same act.
The inverse is wrong as well. We don’t have scarlet letters or the Mark of Cain. People are imperfect, the recognize their failings, repent and move forward with their lives. We are not Philistines or muslims, we are Americans. This is the land of second chances, third chances, fourth chances.

I don't know what hypocrisy you are referring to or what religious tradition you are appealing to, but it certainly sounds as if you subscribe to some strange new-age spiritualism over any real Christian theology.

Careful with such a blanket statement. By your line of reasoning any immoral act, including someone who molested children in the past but then renounces such an act, should then be allowed to be near children. Adults make poor choices that can limit their choices in the future. Her porn past should preclude her from any occupation that involves kids.
She participated in LEGAL ACTIVITIES with ADULTS, NOT CHILDREN. You might want to be careful as well, given the sort of ilk who elected the next administration: There are many among them who would say that Christian Conservative heterosexuals shouldn't be allowed around children because of their world views.
