Plea from a democratic

Posted on 10/31/2008 3:58:43 PM PDT by PleaFromDemocratic

I’m not trying to hide, you may know right up front that I am a very liberal democratic. I know of your site from DU. If your policy requires deleting this post, then it will only be a small waste of my time.

I have had a rough eight years. Not financially, I do OK. Not in personal loss, I have lost no one I know or love to either of these tragic costly wars. No, I’m not someone who can claim a direct path between my misery and W. My disdain for this president, his inner circle, Republicans on the hill and every last person responsible for the affront to ideals I hold personally important, they have cost ME little. No… Not me. I cry for those whose lives have suffered directly through these long eight years. I include most of you in that group. Most people have been directly affected by policy over the last eight years, and for most, it has been tough.

So, as we move past what I consider a blight on our nations character, I expect you to perceive the reverse to be true. I’m not going to be able to write anything to change your perception. If Obama wins, you will feel bad. You will feel left out. It is my personal hope that all us liberals that have felt so bad, crushed and left out will be able to show you something new. You will still disagree with us, I don’t expect that to change. I do expect me, and my fellow democrats to not make you feel the same despair we suffered. Change is coming. You will not like some of it. It is our responsibility to reach out to our opponents, and not make them feel ignored, dismissed, or anything like we have had to feel for eight long years.

When, if, Obama wins. I hope you can share in positive change. I hope you see direct benefits in your lives.

It's too bad most of the responses here are childish.

I wonder how you feel about Obama's past being shrouded in mystery. How won't provide a birth certificate. He won't provide his grades from college; or any papers he wrote either. His test scores are a secret and he won't provide his medical records. There are no friends from his college days who have shown up to speak positively about him. His family members, except for his wife, have been told to keep quite until after election day. He is obviously a friend and political ally of Pentagon Bomber Ayres and his charming bride. Ditto the charming Reverend Wright. He has called for a "civilian security force" equal in size to our military.

You may hate Bush, but I think you hate our country more.

Ok,
You treat Bush worse than a red headed stepchild because you all didn’t get your way in FL, and you have the NERVE to reach out to us. HE REACHED OUT TO YOU AFTER SCOTUS MADE THE DECISION!!! HE REACHED OUT AGAIN AFTER 9/11.

What did he get back? A bloody stump. You guys have ridiculed him, vilified him, and accused him of every vile act imaginable. I have seen signs in public call for his death. And you call it free speech, and expect us to suddenly accept Obama and peace and love...no.

You and your freinds started this vile little game. Big mistake #1. Big mistake #2 will be when you and yours reinstate the fairness doctrine. Big mistake #3 will be underestimating us. Mark my words..you started it. We will finish it, and you will be given a choice. End this foolishness, or end our republic. I think you know which one we’ll choose. Ball’s in your court now.

It won't compare to the suffering that will happen if Obama wins.

No more mortgage payments or paying for gas in your car - the GOVERNMENT will pay for it!

This is the mindset of the typical Obama supporter.

Obama showed such care and responsibility by booting the media, whose organizations officially endorsed the McCain campaign, off his plane.

Yep, he’s going to treat us just fine.

See this is what you liberal numb skulls fail to understand:

I don't operate on emotions. If Obama wins, I'd be mad as hell because I'm going to have to put up with a bunch of socialist crap everyday for the next four years. I won't feel bad. Geesh!!!

I will be very happy to be left out of the Obamanation since my principles and morals aren't remotely aligned with his or his zombies.

I will be buying LOTS MORE ammno and maybe get that Kimber and AR-15 I've have been looking at

When his blue shirt thugs come for you to make you redistribute your money, don't be sad.

Love Letter to a Liberal

As a new member of the “ right” I feel compelled to convey to you, my dear liberal, the journey that has brought me to this place. There is a bitter animosity among many liberals today toward those that would believe as I do. As many conservatives will tell you, there is no point in hating liberals. They are as much a part of us as they are a part of the American fabric. It was once said that most conservatives start out as liberals in their youth. So how do we get to the other side of such opposing views?

For this writer, it took many years of seeing the world outside my parent’s protection to arrive at my current beliefs. In my younger years as an American, I believed in the total goodness of mankind. I knew nothing of hate, racism, wars or politics. I was taught at home and in my schools to love everyone regardless of nationality, gender or religion. Those days where full of hope and possibility. I was once certain in my heart that the world we live in is full of people that only want to live and let live. My thoughts were that those who did not take my views need only to be given a touch of that all-powerful love and they would see how things could really be. It was devastating to find out that there where those that truly hated beyond any reasoning and that no amount of kindness or love would dilute their way of thinking.

As if it wasn’t enough to learn of real hate and wars, I learned that there are political leaders that use those wars to bring themselves to power. I became keen to maneuver through this political trickery. I learned that the worst politicians where those that preyed on the innocents. They tell opponents of hate what they want to hear, that war is very seldom necessary and blame it on the greed of their political opponent. They defy the facts of struggle after struggle, war after war throughout our human history in order to find favor in the American heart. I learned about those amoral, power hungry brokers that seek to widen the divisions in our country, using well chosen words that “sound” eloquent and intelligent to pit race against race, gender against gender, rich against poor to increase their own support in their quest for power. My eyes where opened and I knew there must be others that thought as I did. So I sought them out and found that they were called Republicans. I joined the just cause to bring back those things that I valued most, the ideas of my youth, that where taken from me by the real nature of this world. There was still hope.

Then, on September 11th, just when I thought I had seen every species of hate that the world had to offer; I learned of the islamic extremists. Without any room for doubt, they made their goals be known. Their calling in life was to promote their higher power by erasing us from the face of the earth because we are what they call the “infidels”, the ones that dare to tell them that we do not agree with their spiritual beliefs. They teach their children in their so-called schools that we are less than dogs, sub human. Without remorse, they attack the innocents. They applaud the effort to deliberately murder women and children in the most gruesome way possible to further their cause of fear and intolerance.

There is only one party that can help us to survive in this newest world of hate and insanity. It should not be surprising that the US has taken a “hard right” Republican shift and I suspect that the rest of the free world will follow in the next few years as the newest threats gather.

I long for the liberal days of my youth when everything was brightness and light, before I learned about the hate, before that one bright morning when the reality of the madness of the world came crashing in.

Liberal, I support you in your journey to find the sad truth. The reality is that the world is not what any of us want it to be. Unless those that would kill the liberal-at-heart are removed from power, the world will not ever be what we all want it to be. I am one of those people who will forever dream of peace on earth, but dare to see things for what they are today For you that have not found it acceptable to face these unbearable truths, there will always be those of us on the right who are willing to protect you from the hate and madness of these killers, even if you despise us for doing so. For those who can see that the dreams of our youth are still so very far away and that more work needs to be done to bring back the hope, won’t you please join us in this fight for our freedom?

Sincerely, Earthdweller

GWB reached out to your side during his first term until his arm got stretch marks. What thanks did he get?! Sheer hatred and ridicule (much more than his republican predecessors who weren’t so congenial w/ liberals).

So don’t tell me that Obama will bring in some new era of bipartisan kumbayah!

I wonder if you will feel the same way if or when Obama loses? I know you have suffered these last eight years but will you give Mccain a fair chance or will you contract another case of MDS or Mccain Derangement Syndrome?

I appreciate your trying to bridge the gap and I recognize you enter here as a product of the main stream media and having had scant exposure to the truths that bind us. You and I are Americans first, and I hope that will always be our primary tie, and partisans second. However, we are vastly divergent consumers of media and therein lies the difference.

I hope you will take time to peruse some of the riches offered up daily on the main page of FR to help better inform you. You have, unfortunatley, decided to take your first heoric plunge into FR posting on a Friday evening and wearing only a liberal birthday suit I fear you have stumbled unwittingly into the spirited happy hour of Viking Kitty Valhalla. Please accept these retorts in the good spirit in which they are intended, and know that unlike DU, we welcome divergent political discourse here.

Yep. There’s nothing “progressive” about socialism. It’s just another form of slavery, and an idea as old as man. Too, socialistic policies are simplistic and not much more advanced than the behaviors of schoolyard bullies. The left’s financial outlook is limited by their belief in a zero-sum economy. Combine that with their greed and we have their destructive and regressive tax policies.

Please, for the love of America, someone send the democrats books and tutors on the economy and freedom!
