I early voted in NC today, and was not asked for my ID.
I was asked my name, and my current address and nothing else.
I admit I don't know the law, but the information I gave at the polling place could have been taken from the phone book.
Anyone else voted in NC? What was your experience?
Hope you reported it!
Yes, that’s the way it is here.
Voter info/history is on line also.
It’s been like this since I moved here in 2003. They were letting people register and vote at the same time at the early-voting locations, too. I think you needed an ID for that, but maybe a document with “your” address on it would do.
When we vote early the procedure is the same except that the poll worker checks our name and address against the computer, no printout.
The only persons there were two ushers (directing traffic),the five ladies taking names, the three ladies handing out ballots, and the one lady sitting next to the voting machine. (Wake Tech today at about 2:30 PM)
From what I saw there was noone else there.
If the law doesn’t require ID, I’m not sure who you would report it to.
Discussion is that there are many more rural houses than usual which display no signs at all, or just state and local, which brings up the question: are Democrats simply not putting up signs because they are voting Republican for the first time and don't want their neighbors to know?
From my understanding, as an NC resident, it is against the law to ask a voter for identification in NC.
I early voted in TN and my registration card has a number that identifies me. It was all I had to show, but after she entered the information I would imagine I am locked out at this point. (I hope that is the case)
McCain signs outnumbering Obama signs at least 10 to 1 on the rural roads.
Lots of signs for Judges and other local races in people's yards. Very few Senate and Governor signs.
I discounted all signs at intersections as they are not “owned”.
6. First time voters must bring identification. First-time voters who registered by mail or at a voter registration drive after January 1, 2003, may be asked to show identification. Take along any valid photo I.D., a utility bill, or government document addressed to you when you vote. Even if you aren’t a first time voter, it helps to bring ID.

Has it happened that someone shows up to vote, only to find someone else has claimed they are that person and stolen a vote? What happens then?
Did you sign a book or anything? Compare signatures?
That’s my question, too.
I signed a piece of paper and my signature was “witnessed” by a lady working there.
I know of no method that they used to confirm my signature, at least none that I could identify.
After I gave my name and address, they looked my name up on a computer and printed the paper I signed on a laser printer. From what I saw on the computer, there was only my name, address, voter ID number, and my party affilation.
I imagine that the computer was updated to show that I voted, but had it been someone else, I don’t know what would have happened had I shown up later this week.
I’m in Texas (in a very red district), and haven’t been asked my ID for years.
KS is the same way. They ask for ID if you are a first time voter.
FL requires either the voter ID card or a photo ID.
No ID required to vote in NC. For same day registration/voting you need to show a utility bill that links you to an address. No photo ID required for anything.
