Our European "Allies" Thrilled at U.S. Financial Meltdown
LA Times ^ | 09-20-2008 | Elian Gonzales

"Between the dread of a world in the midst of collapsing and the shiver of pleasure that finally something serious is happening to the kingdom of liberalism, how to orient oneself?" Eric Aeschimann wrote Thursday in the newspaper Liberation, a voice of French intellectuals whose disdain for capitalism persists in the 21st century."

Well, well, well. These are the same people who are just praying that Barack Obama becomes president? With friends like these, who needs allies?

These would be the ‘friends’ we are trying to win back by electing Obama, I guess?

Friends worth having, definitely.

I don’t think any sane person is ‘thrilled’ by this meltdown. This catastrophi is engulfing the economies of Europe just as it is the US. People are angry if anything, blaming (not entirely fairly) America for the outbreak of this recession...

They believe money is evil and we would be better off without it. Of course most of them seem to be independently wealthy.

Actually this will work out bad for Obama. Who needs Obama when America has the depression they were hoping for already?

Until America acknowledges the fact that all nations behave in what they perceive as their own best interests, we will not do the same...

We must begin to do so....

Well, they’re not going to be so thrilled when Putin’s new Red Army rolls through the Fulda Gap, overruns Western Europe, and we’re not there to save their weasly butts.

Edgar Rice Burroughs wrote a book about a hundred years ago called “Beyond 30,” which I read many years ago. I have often thought about that book for certain reasons..

It has been to me abundantly clear since the 1973 OPEC oil embargo that America does not have friends. America has "interests" as does Europe.

Europe is in big trouble for diverse reasons. The quiet Islamic conquest has been well underway for years. Apparently they (Europeans) dislike themselves enough that their procreation rate is abysmal which also contributes to their impending demise.

See ya later Europa. We whose ancestors fled you hardly knew ye.

Leftists anywhere are not US “allies” — they are our ideological enemies dedicated to bringing us down. They may not always be so open about it, but they are just as hateful and dangerous toward freedom-loving people as any Soviet-era communist. Whether there are still enough Europeans left who care about freedom and civilization is an open question at this point.....
