Record breaker ... vintage 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO
The legendary Ferrari 250 GTO was auctioned for the record-breaking price after a mystery Englishman bid for the Italian sportscar.
Only 39 models of the legendary Ferrari 250 GTO model were ever built from 1962 to 1964.
It was already considered one of the most valuable cars in the world, previously thought to have been worth around £11million.
The whopping sale price million smashed the previous world record to bits, reported German newspaper Bild.
That was set after a 1961 Ferrari California Spyder was sold for about £5.4million in May.
nice,but I wouldn’t pay a penny over 27 mil...
Just out of curiosity anyone know what the original price for one the 250’s were? Wondering as to rate of appreciation!
“A thing of beauty is a joy forever...”
It's certainly in the top 10...maybe even five, but for my money, it would take a lot more work to knock the somewhat less exotic E-Type Jag out of the top spot...
Heck of a price for a used car. ;-)
I’m out....
Won’t pull the boat or the goose trailer.....
Yes, but how may cup holders does it have?
I want to be able to drink my coffee and drive fast too......
Where does one drive a $28 Mil car these days? How fast does one dare drive it? Do you valet park it? Does it have any room in back for the groceries? A quart of milk?
When the highway patrolman is writing your speeding ticket and leaning on your window, do you tell him to watch the paint and aluminum?
I guess you can’t park it on the street in Manhattan anymore.
How much is a tune up?
It’s very nice old exotic but way overpriced these days imho. If I had the money for an exotic I would get the current worlds fastest the Shelby Supercar tt ultimate aero. Great video here with Jay Leno http://www.shelbysupercars.com/video-jay-leno.php
CRAP! I could build one from SCRATCH for less than that!
Absolutely sinful...........you could feed millions of starving people with that kind of money.
This makes me mad as hell!!
Lousy gas mileage, hard to keep tuned up, too small to make-out in, golf clubs won't fit in trunk and you can't pick up lumber at Home Depot........oh, and it's a real pain in the neck to drive in the winter.
I finally traded it in on a Honda.
