It seems this post, "A Mighty Wind blows through Republican convention," by one Heather Mallick, suggests those who vote McCain/Palin are White trash. Read it here. Oui. National Health care started just before Trudeau. Besides a crushing national debt, to support social programs; Trudeau's lasting legacy is the “Charter of Rights and Freedoms”, which gave the SCOC the same powers to rule from the bench that the SCOUS has long enjoyed — with all of the expected results. He also trod all over provincial powers & centralized power in Ottawa. This fueled Quebec separatism — which the Liberals “fought” by pouring billions of dollars into Quebec. Then there was the National Energy Program, that completely alienated the western provinces. The near destruction of Canada's military was the icing on the cake.

The HRC’s were created from legislation. AFAIK, the Charter is our equivalent of your Bill of Rights. If anything the HRC’s violate fundamental freedoms under the Charter. The Charter, in effect, enables the SCOC to overturn legislation at will (legislating from the bench). The Charter gave the SCOC the powers to strike down Canada’s abortion laws — although, unlike the situation in the US, they did say that Parliament could bring in a different abortion law (which would also be subject to a Charter test by the SCOC).

If I, personally, were to write off Canada as a travel destination, I would do it because of your so-called human rights commissions, not some silly harridan scribbling in a newspaper.

Apparently some folks have confused the term "white trash" with "trailer trash" or "redneck".

Not the same thing.

"White trash" is a perjorative traditionally used against caucasians much as the word "nigger" was against blacks.

As such, it is a decidedly racist epithet.
