Is the Obama campaign falling thru the floor? New poll numbers favor McCain/Palin.
Hurricane Ike crosses over Cuba heading for the GOM and another possible US landing.
Sarah Palin will sit down with ABC's Charles Gibson for a one on one interview this week.
The federal government has taken over Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in an effort to stabilize the struggling housing market. That means you, me, all us taxpayers... have assumed the risk of this bailout...
And finally, the 7th anniversary of a horrendous day in our beloved country's history approaches..
Let's keep our country, our citizens, and that day's victims in our prayers this week.
I don’t know what has been planned.
Personally, at my house, we will be flying the flag.
Since you are starting the thread on the 22nd, you should be aware that the 24th (I think) is my 10th anniversary.
Sorry you are having so much trouble, Jem.
I have thought about NOT posting breakfast..sort of like fasting?
Thanks. You are correct about socialized medicine. I have choices and I will be reviewing them over the next day or two.
I’ll be here, though, honoring those we lost.
I wish the campaigning would STOP for the day, too. One sentence and that’s it!
Thank you. They can’t leave until the wind tower is up and running and of course it’s not up and it’s not running.
Thank you Jemian.
I agree with 2/3.
I think that would be wonderful and if the msn would not mention politics, it would be even better.
Hi all: Today has been such a nice day! Marcia - Dr Rinehart's former nurse - came over this afternoon and we sat out on the deck in the warm sunshine, and just reminisced...talked about our families, our friends, the new home they are building and just enjoyed our long and loving friendship. Marcia is one of those once in a lifetime people you meet, just at the right time in your life...she was there for me when Larry died and when Miss Lily died. She is, like Anne, one of my "five close" friends. As the experts say, you will have only five truly close friends in a lifetime and, that is only if you are very lucky. You can actually go for years without talking to one of these 'five' friends and just pick up the conversation as though it happened moments ago. I am so very Blessed by all of my friends and my family but, especially to those "5" of you all who know who you are.
Computer talk now...John and Kathy mentioned Vista as a possible problem to my computer woes. So I'll give you all the run down from the git-go. I investigated Vista for almost a year before I bought this new computer because Jake had built up my old computer's capacity. I had thought about upgrading it from Windows 98 to XP to Vista. I talked to a lot of people, including Jake and Mike and realized that the platforms would never be compatible - despite numerable "fix patches". However, I kept reading and reading and found that computers that came, originally installed with Vista, were getting great reviews. This computer is amazing! I absolutely LOVE Vista as an operating system. Vista is not the problem with this computer!!!
My problems began with Maxi-Pad (also known as McAfee -see previous emails) This computer came with a wrong McAfee registry key - it is set at 12.0 in this computer and should have been 12.1. It just shut it's little self down when ever it needed to download an updrade. Now, Jake is the person who found this but, alas, too late. In the meantime, per warranty instructions, I was in contact with Dell out sourcing technicians (Hindi people...sitting on the Ganges, feet dangling in the water, a wireless videocard connected to a laptop connected to unsuspecting Americans) who installed the wrong video driver which corrupted the display driver which corrupted several connections between the software and hardware which rendered my computer TERMINALLY ill. I finally called Dell in Austin TX and spoke to someone whose accent I could actually understand. I told them that I would NO LONGER talk to someone named ' sahib askashit ' or whatever and that I wanted to be connected to someone I could understand and that person could understand me!!! I finally said, ..."Ok, I have exhibited AMAZING patience, for 6 months, while your little 'sing-song' assassins have literally destroyed my computer from across the bloody ocean! I am FINISHED! I want a new computer. I will file a small claims suit for my original cost, the cost of the external hard drive I had to buy because your "assassin agent" said I would have to "back up my data or it is lost", and for raising my stress level to dangerous heights!" I am, after all, an OLD LADY!
They were SO sweet :-) In fact, someone has been calling me at least once a day since I had my meltdown....and, twice today to confirm the technician will be here on Friday afternoon to "make my computer new again and satisfy all of my issues." Dell values me as a customer...blah, blah, blah....I know what they value............ the cost of getting their attorney to my small claims filing would be more than the $799.00 I paid for this computer.
I was once a sweet elderly lady with a cat and a dog, I am now MAXINE with an attitude. I am going to insist that they give me another 12 month guarantee or...pay for a 1 year extended warranty. I think it is about time we stood up to these people who send our work product out to foreign countries, then expect us to say "oh well' if it doesn't work...sigh...guess I'll just have to buy a new one. BULL SUGAR! I am retired...I have a lot of free time...I can file small claims suits...I can hold their feet to the fire..make them be honest. Keeps me busy and off the bar stools :-)
I'll send an update on Friday after the Dell technician actually visits my computer and "makes it right". Until then...love and hugs, ABC
to your #283 — WOW! Great pic of the messiah’s bride!
Say goodnight, OK?
OK (she said reluctantly) good night :-(
Exactly.
Our local tv is breaking up, so I’ll close till tomorrow. Sleep well everyone.
Bev, you are truly blessed to have such loving friends and family.
