I'm sick to my stomach. Although I knew she was going to have to do this..she does take a point of view and she does stick to it, I'm still just sick to my stomach. And for those here who dismiss this woman, you couldn't be more wrong..her books sell like wildfire, her shows sell out and alot of women take what she says as the gospel.
She did say she would still vote for McCain, but she said she wished there was a third party to vote for.
And for those of you who want to attack me for reporting this here, please, please direct your anger elsewhere. I'm not the problem.
I'll post the blog when she uploads it. It's not there yet, but she said on her show she' put it up.
One of the things I often tell my children is, “Rephrase that sentence so that it begins, ‘I decided to ...’ “. (Sometimes I tell my husband the same thing, if I’m not concentrating and get him mixed up with our son. But I apologize.) I grew up hearing this from my mother, who as a Navy wife in wartime (Vietnam) was effectively a single mother for most of my childhood.
I think it’s curious that the discussions of Sarah Palin’s commitments as governor, candidate, potentially Vice President generally go on as if her husband didn’t exist. I’ll bet their children don’t think he’s irrelevant.
Thanks! Must have misread something.
What would Dr Laura say about the prophetess Deborah?
No, I'm one of "the ones" (?) who thinks Sarah Palin *shouldn't* be VP just because she's a woman. That IMO is what the selection of her really boils down to although every conservative in this room is ignoring that elephant among us.
She also shouldn't be VP because she lacks any true experience (argue away, the facts are out there), she has a closet full of other scandals waiting for some liberal to open up, and to me most importantly she has young children who need her full attention; one a teenager in trouble (getting married isn't going to solve Bristol's problems -- teen marriages have a terrible track record), she has a 13 year old daughter just arriving on the teenage years, a son in service overseas to worry about, and especially a Downs Syndrome baby who may have physical as well as developmental problems. I think her plate is full.
As for Mr. Palin (the First Dude as he is known in Alaska), picking up the slack at home and caring for the children -- if you read Alaskan papers and blogs you will learn he is in the governor's office almost as often as she is (that's another scandal waiting to happen). I think Palin was a terrible pick and I won't be surprised by an October Surprise. JMO.
And this thread has attracted a LOT of rightwing extremists.
Not exactly.
A few years ago, some guy called in wondering whether or not to appeal a ticket he'd gotten for parking in a Handicapped parking space. He thought the ticket was inappropriate because he was only there for a few minutes loading or unloading something, and there were plenty of other empty Handicapped spaces if someone really needed one.
Dr. Laura's response was "No! Don't you dare appeal the ticket! The Law Must Be Followed! You Must Follow The Law!.
Fast-forward a few years (last Christmas, perhaps).
Some woman had gotten a ticket for leaving a small child in the car while she and another daughter had hopped out of the car to put some money in the Salvation Army kettle.
Dr. Laura's take on the story was much changed - "Well, the child was in no danger, Mom was only a few feet away, it made no sense to take the other child out in the rain ...".
So much for "The Law Must Be Obeyed!".
Just passing this along:
Luke 16:10:
He that is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much; and he that is unrighteous in a very little is unrighteous also in much...
I don’t agree.
Left = collectivist, ie, government imposed goals
Right = individualist, self determined goals
The left uses the government, the right uses persuasion, perhaps inartful persuasion, but not with the threat of violence from the government.
Dr Laura is a jerk in general whose time has long past.
working or stay at home, the QUALITY of parenting is poor today,i agree with you that offloading to TV etc is a large part of the problem. parents, working or stay at home, who put their own lives ahead of their children, be it worklives, social lives, online lives, will have children who suffer.
I concur...totally...Now, I think I need to go soak my head in a tub of bleach to try and rid my brain of those eeewwwwiiimages! Lol!
Dr Laura gets things right a lot of times. But, nearly as often, she doesn’t get enough background information before spewing her thoughts. I would think she would be a very difficult person to hang around with at family functions and holidays due to her gruff nature.
The voters will decide whether they think Gov. Palin should be Vice President. It’s as simple as that.
I agree with you 100%. The people in the middle, the rino's have torn this once great party to shreds.
I haven’t listened to her for years. Why does anybody else?
I haven’t listened to her for years. Why does anybody else?
You’ve never made a mistake? And if you did, do you blame your mother?
Yes, that's exactly it. I have immense respect for Dr. Laura. Her books are very helpful.
That said- I disagree with her about Sarah Palin. This is a situation unique in our history. The Palin's are a close knit family, plenty of relatives to help out with the care of the children, exc (which I've heard Dr. L. tell callers is an acceptable alternative if you have to work).
I take it Dr Laura just threw out entirely, the tremendously strong Pro Life message both Sarah- by having Trigg in spite of Down's Syndrome, and her daughter- by having her child, and marrying, (instead of "sucking the babies into a sink"), are making?
Sarah Palin and her daughter have brought the Pro Life message front, and center to the American people. They are living examples of what it means to be Pro Life. This focus will continue to be brought to our citizens while the Palin family is in the public eye.
We will get to see both children grow- the strongest statement there is against the left's "blob of tissue- abortion is no big deal" lies.
There is a "Bigger Picture" here, that unfortunately Dr. Laura does not see.
Too bad Dr L. is joining the left in its attempts to remove the Pro Life Palins from the public's attention.
But, as you said -it was to be expected, unfortunately.
Read Dr. Laura’s blog. There’s more than a grain of truth in the notion that our teenagers have suffered because of mothers taking full time jobs, but the simple fact is that we don’t have many men these days who have Palin’s testicles. I watched a Palin governor’s debate someone posted on FR yesterday. Of the three candidates, Palin was the only one who mentioned hunting rights—in Alaska of all places. The two fellas were trying to be SNAGS (Sensitive New Age Guys), and Sarah was speaking the simple bold truth—Alaskans like to hunt.
I wish Sarah could go back home and do the child rearing. It sounds like she may have been remiss on that front, but the nation needs its butt spanked too.
