i.engadget.com - Engadget for your iPhone or iPod touch

For obvious reasons, we're not really big believers in optimizing Engadget for individual devices or platforms. Despite the unrelenting number of requests for an iPhone-optimized version of Engadget, we thought we'd let Apple stand by its whole "the real internet in your pocket" thing. And then we ran the numbers. We could hardly believe it.

So far in 2008, the iPhone, iPhone 3G, and iPod touch account for some 95.8% of all mobile views on the full site. We're not even kidding. That doesn't factor the visitors who hit our current mobile version of the site, but it's pretty hard to argue with any number like that, so we're rolling out a new beta version of Engadget optimized for the iPhone at i.engadget.com. (Don't worry, we'll still be keeping original mobile site active at m.engadget.com.) Please feel free to let us know what you think in comments!

Oh, and for the stats nerds in the audience, you can check out Engadget's mobile device breakdown after the break.

Hahahahah - the *Wii* has more visits than any of the Windows Mobile, Palm or Symbian devices.

This is an example of how Apple is a category-killer. Smart phones with some sort of Web browsing have been around forever, but the iPhone puts a delightful interface on it and removes a lot of the limitations smart phones have had as Web devices.

Having used the browsers on an iPhone and on a Treo, it’s no contest; I’d bet iPhone users, on average, spend a whole lot more time on the Web. My sister-in-law has an iPhone, and she doesn’t cross the room to sit at the computer when she wants to look something up on the Web any more.

I like Endgadget, but it’s pretty much an Apple fanboy site so the iPhone type hits don’t really surprise me.

I have found this:
for my touch, and it works on the iphone, too.
It is in the itunes store, the apps section, sort by name "irepublican" (page 40), or search by date (21 July 2008) or
You could simply take the above image and store it as a jpg on your apple.
It is priced right (free).

Martin,  you may want to re-ping  your list....
