BEREA, Ohio (CNN) For almost a week, John McCain and his campaign have been mocking Barack Obamas comments to a voter last week in Missouri when he told her to one way to conserve energy is making sure your tires are properly inflated.
On Monday a top McCain advisor passed around tire gauges labeled Obamas Energy Plan to reporters on the Arizona senators campaign plane and the Republican National Committee says more are waiting for the Obama traveling press corps at Tuesday nights hotel.
Obama shot back at a town hall in Ohio Tuesday afternoon, accusing them of lying about his energy plan and ignoring what experts say would reduce gas consumption between 3 and 4 percent.
It's like these guys take pride in being ignorant, Obama told a packed gym. They think its funny that they're making fun of something that is actually true. They need to do their homework.
Instead of running ads about Paris Hilton and Britney Spears, they should go talk to some energy experts and actually make a difference, Obama added.
Both the RNC and McCains campaign responded by urging Obama to call for Congress to return from summer recess for a special session to pass an energy package

errr *hands* out even...
This guy is a laugher. A total joke.
Good Lord, is someone finally taking the fight to the enemy? This is the kind of PR approach that wins elections and I didn't think McCain's people had the necessary creativity or gumption.
A joke without a sense of humor.
Oh Mr. Hussein Obama we are not laughing at something that is true we are laughing at you and the point you think inflating your tires will save as much oil as the US can produce by drilling. Go get a real job for a change and let the adults manage the country!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, Obama, I’d rather laugh and make fun of something that’s true (which is the essence of comedy) than WORSHIP and MAKE A RELIGION out of something that ISN’T TRUE.
Like your ilk does with Global Warming.
Fact is, Hussein, you said that inflating tires would save as much oil as the Republicans were talking about getting through drilling.
THAT'S the ignorant statement and deserves to be mocked, scorned, and made fun of because it is so abjectly ignorant.
There's enough oil off the Pacific and Gulf coasts, in ANWR, and in the Oil Shales, to account for about 11,000 years of your tire inflation savings, Hussein.
That's not what he said. He said Americans could save as much oil by properly inflating their tires as we could drill.
Even CNN realized how stupid Obama's comments were and therefore re-writes them for him.
Who likes to have a handy tire pressure gauge stuffed in his sock...
For appropriate inflation of the Rolls.
I guess that saves the British taxpayer some millions.
Whenever Republicans talk to energy experts, Obama and the Democrats accuse them of being "in the pocket of Big Oil."
Personally, I doubt that Obama actually knows any energy experts, or even knows people who know energy experts.
bitter, clinging to guns, bible, and now ignorant:)
I know the MSM thinks they are helping Obama by continuing to talk about the Celeb Ad and Tire Pressure plan (note that this is not a gaff; Obama said it twice and was serious). But all they are doing is giving McCain free advertising, and keeeping it in front of people.
Yes, you are right... CNN has changed Obama’s quote from last week. I think we all might agree that proper tire pressure would help maximize the gas efficiency. However, the crazy thing was he said it would offset ALL the extra energy from offshore drilling.
Everyone knows what Obama said was just plain stupid on this. Even my 13 year old who doesn’t follow politics heard the clips on CNN, and was laughing and said how crazy can that be.
Good job CNN. Keep it up.
Democrats take pride in being superior.
Pride goeth before a fall.
“what experts say would reduce gas consumption between 3 and 4 percent.”
What experts say this?
What if the public doesn’t want $4.00 a gallon gasoline? Are they required to accept it if the Great Obama ordains it?
Really, the notion that politicians know better than we do is dangerous. It rationalizes these people taking over all aspects of our lives.
I’d really like to see someone at one of these press conferences of his ask him if poor tire inflation is the reason why gasoline is at around $4.00 a gallon. It would be great to hear his answer.
He keeps supplying ammo to the other side.
