It seems the mainstream media loves cats and will gives them favorable treatment all the time. Thats why I find it incumbent upon myself to put stories on this blog about the realty of the the feline class. It doesnt hurt if theres a degrading picture to go along with it.
Take for instance this story of a kitty wasting taxpayer resources, by getting her head stuck in a jar.

The following web site:
http://www.ojohaven.com/collectives/submit.html
has a pretty good list and also provides a means by which you can submit a 1) new collective noun you read in print somewhere but that is not currently on the list, or 2) a collective noun you created. I submitted “a rumble of gangs”, but have not heard back whether it is accepted.

Hmm, and your link also mentions “a crash of rhinoceroses”. Rhinocerii? Reminds me of my favorite newscast of all time, when an L.A. reporter was describing an animal compound being flooded when a river overflowed, something like this:
“This just in, residents just reported two hippopotamooses swimming down the river, make that two hippopotameese..., never mind, it was one hippopotamus followed by another hippopotamus”.

The Hippopotamus
Behold the hippopotamus!
We laugh at how he looks to us,
And yet in moments dank and grim,
I wonder how we look to him.
Peace, peace, thou hippopotamus!
We really look all right to us,
As you no doubt delight the eye
Of other hippopotami.

That reminds me of something I saw on TV years ago where a guy with a stutter was trying to suggest going to the laboratory to conduct an experiment. He said:
Let’s gggg....go...t-t-to the laaaa...
Let’s gggg....go...t-t-to the laaaa...labbbbb...
Let’s gggg....go...t-t-to the laaaa...laborrrrr...
Let’s go to the scientific place.

Speaking in my capacity as Ministrix of ye Chase, I can tell you that the
original 'booke of venery' is
The Booke of St. Albans which collected a bunch of these 'venereal terms' - that is actually the correct name for them. All this history is detailed in this book:

"A lurk of leopards" is my personal favorite, but "a parliament of owls" comes close. And C.S. Lewis used the last one in The Silver Chair (of course Chaucer used a variant too. These things get around.) And A. Conan Coyle's Sir Nigel ran a quick riff on them too.

I have a copy of Lipton's book and enjoyed reading it. My copy says it's a “leap” of leopards. I think one of my favorites is a whisper of nightingales.

The story isn’t really about a cat head in a jar, the body is attached. We had a cat for 16 years who recently passed and is very much missed. Keep in mind, the story is written from a dog’s perspective. The kitty is fine, and the jar has been removed.

I think it is a leap -- but I think of leopards as lurking on tree branches waiting to drop on unsuspecting hunters who think they are hunting the leopard . . . .

We met the author once. He was a very interesting character . . . .
