A 44-year-old Arizona man allegedly tried to fool the photo radars that record a vehicle's speed. It worked for a while until the police caught up with him.
Timothy Welsh allegedly used a permanent marker to change both the 3 and the 9 on his license plate to an 8, so when his vehicle got nabbed for speeding, the ticket was sent to someone else...
At first, Scottsdale Sgt. Jim Butera thought it was a mistake when a Phoenix man called him complaining he had gotten two speeding tickets mailed to him, but he wasn't the one speeding.
When Butera looked at the photo and saw the man making an obscene gesture at the camera he thought, "[we] need to do some more investigating."
"He didn't think it was that big of a deal," Butera told the station. "But he admitted to everything that we accused him of."
Welsh allegedly was going 14 mph over the speed limit and would have had to pay a $175 fine, but now, he's facing a $1,500 fine and up to a year in jail.

I drive a Subaru WRX Turbo. One time I got a speeding ticket in it for doing 87 in a 70 in Missouri. Luckily, Colorado does not post out of state violations, not yet as long as pay the ticket.
The traffic tickets for money industry in Eugene is controlled by the (union represented) Lane County Sheriff's traffic team. They will be found at all times patrolling the urban growth boundary zones of roads leading into the area (the point where the rural highway 55 MPH limit is enforceable without actually proving a driver's speed is unsafe).
The city has it's own traffic team, but it concentrates on entrapping drivers in technicalities with phony pedestrians at unmarked crosswalks, folks not wearing seat belts, and paper violations such as expired registrations. They seem to concentrate mostly in areas where they are likely to get add ons, maybe catch a glimpse of a baggy or a pipe so they can cite posession into muni court (but don't bother the street dealers, no money in that).
I admit... when the light in front of me changes from amber to red in front of me, right as am am about to hit the white stop line, I go through... but it's only because I know that 'every one else does it'.. Bad excuse... but true.I've considered setting up my minicam in front of my apartment to catch them... but when I asked a Japanese person for advice, he said that it was in violation of the privacy law... you can't record a private individual"s license plate. :O
Just another subtle revenue enhancement in the fiefdom of Daleyville.
Da mare thinks it's a wonderful idea.

Jealously!
Went to the Specialty Equipment Market Association(SEMA) show this last fall in Vegas. It’s a car lover’s dream. One of the vendors there had a license plate gadget that you could flip down with the flick of a switch. Then release it and the plate would flip back up. I’d love to get my hands on one and use it to fly the bird to the cameras...
My various trailers somehow rubbed off everything but the current registration sticker.
They are one and the same.
The capability is there now.
Your local government will announce this later.
And our various governments are responsible by law to insure our right to peaceably travel without being harrassed by armed government agents or robots.

The people in this laundromat are probably going to have the cops come out and check me, so I'm out of here.
Then get your a$$ on the shoulder and stay the hell out of my way.
You are on the wrong website.
Regards,
They’re probably talking about the Scottsdale cameras on the 101 Loop. I’ve seen drivers lose it in those curves...one was a motorcyclist who ended up on the wires in the media. That wasn’t very pretty.
There was an article in the papers last week...they’re thinking of making violations caught on camera non-punitive; that is, fines only and no points. That’s a tacit admission that it’s all about raising revenue for the State.
media = median
When I traveled the 101 it left quite early. 1998 was the last time.
Wellllllllllll speed cameras are illegal in Texas as one stated before yet red light cameras are not. Gonna take some BS rule of law !
They have done nothing there so far too reduce the idgits that run the lights. Only positive aspect is that the things provide revenue too the socialist local goobermint.
... Only protection is too be a defense America Driver vs a European Offensive Driver........:o)
I am 100% for safety yet rely on nothing man made for 100% security. And IMO the red light and speed cameras are something no driver should rely on. A False sense of security that will get folks killed.
Be a defensive driver and remember rules are only for those that will follow and respect em.......anything else will get ya hurt bad !
As a former deputy sheriff I will say that most LEO’s will look at your video and may talk too the driver but will rarely cite the driver based on YOUR evidence due the potential gotchas that a little gator will present ....... almost a waste of time sadly !
When the red light cameras came to Pasadena CA many moon ago the local college kids grabbed some gorilla suits and pulled their plates for some fun. The pics were hilarious and of course the PD was NOT amused.
Then came the lawsuits after pics of Joe Q running red lights with his concubine next to him in the car were mailed to his house where the wifey opened them up.
LOL !
My favorite is still the guy who got the fine and the pic in the mail and he sent back a pic of the cash .....cops sent back a picture of handcuffs and all was settled !
Hope yer well !
Stay safe !
