Sorry for the vanity. I was doing some research this morning, went to Google Maps and noticed the "street view" option isn't on the menu. Has it been deleted?
I know there have been some privacy issues and some communities have asked that street view not be used but has google caved and scrapped the whole thing?
FWIW I think the privacy issues are mostly unfounded. If it's a public street and anyone can take a picture then google should be able to make street view available.
If Google has pulled it, there could be wide ranging effects. What about live webcams, security cams and traffic cams? If I take pictures of my community and post them on the web is that going to be a problem?
Hopefull it's just a glitch or I just can't find the menu option.

street view is not available for every city or map. try a different city...
Something is going on at Google. Last night and this morning someone has hacked either Google or The American Spectator. When I try to go to the Spectator website I get a warning message (seemingly from Google) saying it is a “known attack site.” This has never happened to me before.

Google Maps Street View is working okay here.
Thanks to all who helped me through my moment of incompetence...sigh.

Seems they were filming street scenes with kids playing basketball and such. Parents got upset. Google claimed they would delete people but,.....
I just google mapped my house and I still can see it through Street View. Maybe some communities asked it to be taken down, but ours is still viewable.
We got a laugh out of our google street view. We keep our boat in the backyard (city code says you have to store it “out of sight” so we have a large gate at the side of our yard and back the trailer into our backyard), but we must have been just back from fishing, or cleaning the boat because on google street view all you can see in our driveway is a boat...no cars. Looks like we’re preparing for a flood, LOL.
Some of their photographers were in town recently and were approached by police wondering why they were in neighborhoods taking pics.
I basically agree with you as far as a view of my house from the street goes. But I think we have a reasonable expectation of privacy with respect to what goes on in our back yards, our porches, and anywhere behind a fence, and thus cannot be viewed from the street. The idea that a satellite can take a view of my back porch from 23,000 miles up and publish those pictures is, I think, an inherent violation of my privacy.
I figured out street view.
map something and look to the left where the Zoom In and Zoom out thing is.. you will see an Orange guy at the top of it.. and you just drag him to your specified location, and it will make the full screen street view.. it’s pretty cool you can go wide-screen now and if you hold down the N on the compass at the top you can rotate 360 instantaneously.
Meow, Meow...VKitty attention needed here!
