I think the privacy issues are mostly unfounded. If it's a public street and anyone can take a picture then google should be able to make street view available.

I basically agree with you as far as a view of my house from the street goes. But I think we have a reasonable expectation of privacy with respect to what goes on in our back yards, our porches, and anywhere behind a fence, and thus cannot be viewed from the street. The idea that a satellite can take a view of my back porch from 23,000 miles up and publish those pictures is, I think, an inherent violation of my privacy.

Then you better hide those Marijuana plants you're growing in the back yard. You have nothing to be afraid of of you ave nothing to hide, i hate it when people cry out PRIVACY!!! what privacy?? are you doing something you shouldn't be doing?? like building an illegal patios?? growing some plants you shouldn't have been doing?? burying something you shouldn't be burying?? dumping toxic in your back yard?? i mean really. they only ones that cries privacy are the one doing something illegal?? Oh?? you say you want to walk around your backyard naked?? OIC. Yeah privacy you say. you'll be happy if they use this to catch some criminal in your area wouldn't you?? I say leave the street view and the over head satellite shots, big deal its all old picture anyways mostly a year or 2 old. you people should stop worry about little things like this.
If you have nothing to hide, then you have nothing to worry about.
