Provenance Fighter Sales is benefiting from growing interest in WWII-era aircraft.
The World War II-era P-38 fighter made an emergency landing on a Greenland ice cap in July 1942 while on a flight from Maine to England. The aircraft eventually was buried under a layer of ice and snow more than 200 feet thick.

As for rebuild/re-creation of WWII-era planes...the ME-262s now flying
are something else.
(Although I do have sentimental misgivings about it being one of
“the bad guys” products).

The article mentioned the Me-262. Is there actually a flying ME-262 somewhere? (And do they really used the old Jumo-004 engines?)
Glacier Girl is my favorite bird. I even contributed a small amount to her restoration.
Good videos...Man, that has to be an expensive project they’ve got going but the planes look like they’ve done a great job.

Thank the Lord we beat the Nazis before they could turn out a massive number of these jets. If Nazi Germany had had these planes in large numbers during the Battle of Brittan or the Battle over Nazi occupied Europe after the invasion the outcome could have been totally different.
No. Using GE J-85/CJ-610. Very significantly lighter and about 1,000 more pounds of thrust per engine. Repro ME-262 is expected to have better performance than the original because of this. Here’s a link:

I’ve seen GG several times. She is as smooth as silk - not a rivet out of place. The Sea Fury they resently sold is also a beauty.
They buy these machines and then fix them up to perfection and then sell them at a profit. If they can do it - more power to them.

The end would have probably been the same (Allies just had too many resources and other logistical advantages) but getting there would have been much longer and much more painful. I, for one, am glad it worked out the way it did.
My father was a bomber crewman in the 8th Air Force. Based on his recounting of his missions, the Germans were quite bad enough in their Me-109s and FW-190s, thank you very much.
He did see Me-262s towards the end. As he explained it, the traverse motors in the turrets of his bomber (B-24J) were not fast enough to allow the gunners to actually “lead” the jet fighter when aiming. So their tactic was to just pick a clear spot in the sky that they thought the aircraft would fly through and fill it with .50 cal in the hope that it might fly into some of them.
What a revoltin’ situation!
At what point of rebuilding does it cease to be a restoration, and becomes a replica?
