Newby asks "Ping to 'All'"?

In the 'pings' set in some comments, besides the expected member names, I have seen the word 'All'. Does that 'ping' the message to everyone who already left a comment on that thread? How about those who comment after? And are there other 'special' words, besides 'All'?

And FWIW, I was the one to register both all and y’all as screen names.

I suppose they technically violate the multiple screen name rule, but they’re dead useful, I’m not using them, and I don’t even know their passwords.

Its a lot easier now, but back in the old days, when I joined FR, you first had to lurk for 3 months, then pass a written test, before you were given posting privileges

How would you know, you kept failing the only written test question, "Am I logged in?"

I got away with "All", "Y'all", and "no one in particular".

The mod squad finally had enough when I tried to register "The Author of the Article" and nuked it instantly.

I still say being able to post to "The Author of the Article" instead of the screen name of first poster would stop a lot of the flame wars...
