Hollywood, CA (BANG) - Sharon Stone has been dropped from Christian Dior's Chinese adverts.
The 'Basic Instinct' star - who suggested the devastating natural disaster in the Sichuan province on May 12 was "karma" for their government's treatment of Tibet - will no longer appear in the French fashion house's campaign in the Far East country even though she has now apologized.
Stone said in a statement released by Dior: "Due to my inappropriate words and acts during the interview, I feel deeply sorry and sad about hurting the Chinese people."
"I am willing to take part in the relief work of China's earthquake, and wholly devote myself to helping affected Chinese people."
Stone also said she had worked for various international charities for over 20 years. Stone's comments sparked mass controversy and were condemned by many commentators.
Speaking about the natural disaster, which has so far killed around 80,000 citizens, she initially said: "I'm not happy about the way the Chinese are treating the Tibetans because I don't think anyone should be unkind to anyone else. And then this earthquake and all this stuff happened, and then I thought, 'Is that karma? When you're not nice then the bad things happen to you?' "
When you’re not nice then the bad things happen to you?’ “
I wonder if she feels that way about women who abort babies?
Yeah, that karma stuff’s a b!tch, ain’t it?
But I keep reading that they’re dropping her from the CHINESE ads. Does she appear in ads elsewhere, and are they still planning to use her in ads elsewhere?
I hear Dunkin’ Donuts is hiring for their ad campaign.
I wonder if these same people who are so sensitive to this outlandish statement, are renouncing the likes of Jeremiah Wright who says that 9/11 was “America’s chickens coming home to roost”?
Will they renounce Wright and Obama, who endorsed that ministry for 20 years? And please, don’t anyone tell me this is comparing apples and oranges.
It’s trendy to hate America.
My relatives are Han Chinese but they were treated about the same as the Tibetans because they refused to join the Pary when given an opportunity. How does ol’ Sharon feel about that?
Hollywood’s full of mental giants.
How ‘bout a pic just to confirm it’s not really her “arse”?
Wright and Obama are spokespersons for Dior?
It would have been more appropriate for me to say: “Would they have renounced...” rather than “will they...”
I’m not so sure she’s wrong.
The answer then is yes. There is a high probability that approaches certainty that they would have.
Companies do not like their spokespersons ticking off a large number of their potential customers. As Michael Jordan said, "Republicans buy shoes too."
That's the last of the good stuff for now. The HFR pours instead a cup of contempt for bimbo-airhead actress Sharon Stone. Last week at the Cannes film festival, she had the moxie to say the Sichuan earthquake was "bad karma" for China's murderous oppression of Tibet. She folded like a Gypsy's cheap accordion when denounced by Beijing as a "public enemy of mankind." Today (5/30), she issued a groveling apology, saying how "deeply sorry" she was for her "erroneous words and deeds."
This, of course, satisfied not one single Chinese Nazi-nationalist on the Net. The outpouring of rage towards her continues on the Chinese blogs unabated. If she wasn't such a total ditz she would have foreseen this and taken advantage of it.
Instead of apologizing, she would have doubled down, demanding an apology from the Chinese people for defending their dictatorship government's tyranny in Tibet:
"Yes, it is an absolute tragedy that 70,000 Chinese died in the Sichuan earthquake, and my heart goes out to them all. But seventy thousand as a number is a small fraction of two million. That's how many Tibetans have been murdered by Chinese soldiers and Red Guards and the Chinese government over the last 50 years of Chinese colonial rule. The Chinese people demand the world feel sympathy for the Chinese victims of this earthquake. They demand the world feel no sympathy at all for the Tibetan victims of their imperialism. Instead of expressing outrage at me, they should be outraged by what is in their own souls."
That would have made her a human rights hero - and generated a gigantic bonanza of headlines. Instead, her cowardice has resulted in her being dissed by everyone on the globe. Smart she ain't.
Hahahahaha - good one.
She proved that karma exists. LOL
“The people of China” sounds much more like new world order/liberal speak. I guess you can't help it if you're dumb as a fence post.
