“Unanswered Prayers” has been around for a while. I became dissatisfied with Garth’s albums after his very first album, but it’s a good song.

(And to be honest I’ve always been more of a George Strait fan anyway)

Do you remember the film "Pure Country"? It starred George and Lesley Ann Warren (IIRC)...the one song I remember from that film was "I Cross My Heart". Amazing song and film...

"I Cross My Heart"

Well it is Saturday night and this'll be the Saturday night ping, since I have to head into work at 4 in the morning. If WFTR will forgive me for deviating from the given topic, my little nephew Tryston turned 1 today.

Here he is already Zotting trolls. I think we have a future FReeper in our midst.

He's even driving heavy equipment, too. He got a dump truck and a front end loader for his birthday, so he's well on his way to building things and irritating liberals.

Tryston also recognizes that fiber is a part of good health, although I don't think chewing on the blocks I played with when I was his age is the way to go about doing it.

At any rate, Happy birthday Tryston! Maybe if we haven't been shut down by President for life B. Hussein you'll have your own screen name! :)

Are there any characters on TV or the movies who come close to meeting that description in your mind?

Yeah, Gerard Baker of the Phantom of the Opera and Dear Frankie (and now P.S.I Love You) swoon!!!

What a cutie he is!

My cousin is a C&W singer....sounds just like GS. He sang I Cross My Heart at his brother’s wedding about a year after the song came out. Not a dry eye in the house. One of the best GS ever did. :)

Bonus Questions

1. How soon do you Google a "celebrity" after deciding that you have a crush on him/her?

2. What's the best thing that will happen this week at work? What's the worst?

3. Are you thinking of buying anything special this week?

This one isn't a bonus question exactly, but we'd always like to hear from anyone willing to volunteer to host a thread or anyone who has ideas about topics that we can cover. We also did a thread a while back where we interviewed one volunteer. If anyone would like to be the subject of another interview singles' thread, please let us know.

Thanks,

Bill

I am going to buy a point and shoot camera this week. And I’m going to be planning a deck and a screened in porch on front and back of my home.
Bathroom renovation too.
Refrigerator too.
A whole bunch of things. :)

The camera sounds fun. The rest sounds ambitious in the doing but fun in the having. If I lived somewhere with a more pleasant summer, I’d think about getting a screened porch.

1. How soon do you Google a "celebrity" after deciding that you have a crush on him/her?

I suppose if I'm really interested in a celebrity, I'd google them as soon as I realized I had an interest in them...

2. What's the best thing that will happen this week at work? What's the worst?

The best thing that will happen this week at work is that tomorrow is my last lecture for the summer! The worst is that I have to give an exam...and the material it covers has typically been more difficult for students in the past and I don't anticipate that changing with this group-but they may surprise me.

3. Are you thinking of buying anything special this week?

Why, yes I am! I've decided to teach myself to play the ukulele so I will be purchasing one along with a chord book. I have a guitar and tried to learn that but I have really small hands with short fingers and it was hard to reach across the frets for chords so I'm hoping the uke will be easier for me as it's smaller...

How soon do you Google a "celebrity" after deciding that you have a crush on him/her?

Considering my line of work, I end up having crushes on many women because drive bys seem to attract a LOT of eye candy.

Not so much Google, but YouTube is just as handy.

Any of you that live in Philly probably have heard the story of KYW's former infobabe Alycia Lane (she's the brunette in this particular promo). I believe it was you, Dave, that asked is your particular crush(es) simply based on physical attraction and I would have to say yes. Politics and ideology are pretty big selling points with me and if your own work agenda clouds your thinking, well...

Speaking of clouded thinking, some pervs on YouTube spend time finding "upskirts" of cable news anchors. Here is Fox's Catherine Herridge showing more leg than is really necessary. There's also this of Linda Vester not really trying to show America the promised land the way Catherine did, but still. Testosterone does funny things to men if left uncontrolled I guess...

lol, I was watching Fox a while ago when Rush had the day off and Linda Vester had Ben Stein on and Ben was flirting with Linda as only Ben can. (I believe he said something like "it's a disappointment that your husband got you before I had the chance".)

Of course, there's always the Howard Stern approach to television appearances...

I don’t watch the news, except for local, much anymore ‘cause it’s all so negative, so I didn’t see it. But that does sound like Ben Stein lol.

1. Never

2. The best thing was having a patient's family call my boss to give me a compliment. The worst was having my paycheck shorted a couple hundred dollars by mistake. (I have to wait 2 wks for the correction.)

3. I burned out my weedeater today (my lifeblood on the property here) and have to wait until my paycheck is corrected ...in order to buy another one. *chuckle* Wait...is that special? *smile*

I Google everybody all the time; nothing special about celebrities.

2. What’s the best thing that will happen this week at work? What’s the worst?

I present at my first conference as a professor - in Canada! I don’t even want to think about the worse that could happen between here and Canada.

3. Are you thinking of buying anything special this week?
No. I was gonna get my hair cut for the trip, then decided to trim it myself. Something might take my fancy in Canada, tho.

Ok. Son and DIL (photographers) told me what to get, which is not what I thought I was looking for.
They said with point and shoots, 6-7 megapixels is the “sweet spot” I thought more, although that wasn’t a big deal with me.
I wanted more than 3x optical zoom, but he said that’s fine, I can manipulate the image itself.
And the other stuff I wanted was a large viewing screen, easy to find, and NO DOUBLE A BATTERIES.
So I got a Sony Cybershot S750. One day I want a Canon Rebel xti, but not today. :)

The screened in porch? It’s not cool here either, but I want the porch. When I was married, all those years I did without so much. He got so much nice stuff, and so much of it. Now I am going to make careful choices, but I’m going to make things comfortable around here. :)
