I'm currently of the opinion the disaster that has been president Bush for the last few years (yes, I was a supporter of George till he quit being a conservative) should cause Obamanation to win.
I'm all for fighting the war over there. What I'm not for is letting the current congressional majority pass whatever they want and the President not showing any leadership skills with Republicans currently in congress. RINO's like McCain have ruined the party with their descent to moderation from Regan style Republican values.
Obama should win this election so the nation can see the real differences in liberals and conservatives since Bush and McCain have clouded the differences so much. I feel like if Obama dosent win, Republicans will lose in the longrun. If Republicans become a different flavor of liberal, what good are they.
Buchanan did more damage to the first Bush in 1992.
You’re welcome.

If it were so easy, everyone would have had it right away..
um they didnt learn, need to send a stronger message. It is obvious they didnt learn when they made Mccain their man. Btw i had rat incombants so I voted for the republicans, however they were real conservatives and got no backing from the GOP they lost ofcourse.
I’m not voting for McWhacked, but I’m not cheering for Big Ear Socialist. What happens happens. I won’t be happy with either clown winning.
There are downsides to both awful candidates winning.
The downsides to McWhacked winning are:
1) then the RINO Pubs feel they no longer need conservatives to win, and the takeover of the party by “Country Club” Pubs will be complete, and conservatives will have no home and no party. The party will officially be “Democrat Lite”.
2) the disaster that McWhacked’s policies do to the country will be blamed on Pubs.
3) Pub Congress Critters will not oppose McWhacked’s insane Liberal policies, because he will be the leader of the party.
If Obama wins:
1) the Pubs won’t be blamed for the terrible things that happen to the country.
2) conservatives will still have a voice in the Pubbie party.
3) Pub Congress Critters will provide at least some opposition to his Socialist legislative plans.
Just the fact that we are having this debate shows McCain
does not have a chance.
I get your point: if McCain wins, we’re screwed, as we watch the GOP move ever farther to the Left, and if Obama wins, we’re well and truly screwed for four years, but perhaps in the interim we can seize the party back from the “moderates” and throw out the bastards running as “Republicans” today.
This isn’t like cutting off your nose to spite your face, though; more like cutting off some far more important body part...
“So if Obama wins, Republicans in DC will become more conservative??”
They’ll fight liberal Obama. They will NEVER fight liberal McGore.
Ive have heard several present this arguement and tend to agree. Although not 100% sure of the outcome.
A pres. McCain will ruin the conservative movement..he will set the agenda for the elections of 2010. Republican candidates will be less conservative and we will lose more seats in congress.
Pres Obama will be a disaster no doubt about it. But this might be a silver lining for 2010 and beyond.
Just maybe the GOP/RNC will grow a spine, listen to the base, clean out the current scum and get some new blood in the leadership.
The point so many make, and its valid, is Obama will destroy our country...true if we dont have an opposition.
Either way we lose...but which way will we recover?
Tough choices for us all.
thread bump!
I agree with the statement. In all likelihood, we will win back the Congress in 2010 if Obama wins and then spends the next two years royally mucking up the nation, just like Billy J Clinton did.
No, I don't want him to win, but I don't see a calamity if he does. Americans are just too sensible to let the worst leftist inclinations of his happen.
To All,
Look, folks, there IS LIFE after January 2009.
The world is not coming to an end if Obama gets the Presidency, as cr*ppy as he (or McCain for that matter) would be. It won't be a picnic, but it won't be the end of the world. With President McCain, RINOism in the GOP will be institutionalized, even within the Conservative movement. (When is the last time you can recall we had a major, huge, full blown "FREEP" of the Bush White House over some of his appeasement or amnesty-like positions?)
It will be a brief four years and particularly if we have a Republican Congress from next year, or can get one in 2010 from The Big Backlash Against Obama, you are going to see the GOP revitalized as in it's BEST days in the early 1980s under Ronald Wilson Reagan. Reagan would have us be positive and forward moving, even as Carter took the mantle from Ford because the GOP was too stupid not to pick a genuine Conservative in 1976, Ronald Reagan, who would have cleaned his clock that year. Let's look at the big picture here.
Job one: destroy or at least emasculate the RINO control of the GOP
Job two: Gain the Senate and Congress
Job three: Gain the Presidency. Rome was not built in a day.
McCain will put into many of the same policies and general direction that will come about under Obama or Hillary, albeit perhaps at a slower pace.
As I have always said, the leopard will not frighten me to get into a pit with a bobcat, if there is a third option of getting rid of the both of them (just a parable here folks).
Why hasn’t the Soros funding and connection been exposed?
How much longer is this going to go on before the MSM is made aware of how nefarious all the machinations behind-the-scenes are, with this “candidate” Obama. When are EITHER or BOTH of them going to be held accountable for just what their relationship and their mutual agenda are?
And when is it going to be uncovered just what the make-up of this mythical “grassroots” support with hundreds of thousands or millions of ‘real people’ Americans all sending in small donations, and that this was “how” Obama wound up surging the way he did four, five months ago?
I suspect this is all the Obama Mythology and a monolithic funding structure was created to give the impression it came from individuals, sort of like the inverse of Hillary’s LARGE contributions from Chinese busboys and dishwashers.
I think Mccain recieves Soros cash.
You bring up some good points and I myself am struggling with what to do about this. I think if it was anyone besides Obama I would sit it out or do a write in, and I still may..but the fact is, Obama is dangerous and foolish and the absolute WORST possible candidate at this particular time in history.
The only thing I agree with McRino about is his stance on not pulling the plug on the troops..but beyond that he is a liberal as far as I’m concerned.
I never would have guessed we would have a democrap nominee that was so far left it made Hillary look moderate!! insanity!!
We are doomed either way if you ask me...outlook hazy.
I agree completely.
