The inlaws would like a word to help us define our relationships.
Is there a name for the relationship the parents have to each other?
We are more like sisters than inlaws. Explaining the marriages makes
your brain explode so we'd like to find a short name to tell the story
more succinctly.
My daughter is her brother's cousin in-law.
My son is his sister's cousin in-law.
My daughter's mother in law is her brother's aunt.
My son's mother in-law is his sister's aunt.
Yes, after reading the title of this thread, it was the first thing I thought of:

This vanity may not apply, but I'm convinced drama has replaced money to what makes the world go 'round.
Just say you are from West Virginia.
Seriously, if you the couple aren’t second cousins or closer, their is no need to explain anything.
Me too. My maternal grandfather’s sister married my maternal grandmother’s brother.
I never have been able to remember how most of my cousins on that side are related to me and to each other.
Hmm, sounds like the makins of one of your beautiful songs there, Jo!
I may be confusing, but it still makes you a
very special and unique family. God is good.
I = It. Sheesh!
I come from a strange family too - I have nieces and nephews older than I - we are more peers than my siblings and I.
But that doesn’t answer your query.
I would use the term I often think of when it comes to explaining my own crew to others:
We are a custom-made family given all the love we share.
Custom Aunt and Uncle; Custom Cousin; etc.
incest? Just kidding. My husband and I discovered that in 1800 my first cousin 7 times removed married his first cousin 6 times removed. We actually found their graves (they’re dead now LOL) in the Lexington Cemetery in Lexington KY. We have photos.
Are any of these people actually on the family tree? Blood relations? If not then it doesn't work that way.
"Eeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwww" comes to mind.
Just teasin.
The two cousins are blood related.
My son and daughter are blood related.
Sionnsar is going to post a family
tree as soon as he gets home from
church.
I kneeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwuuuhhhhhh.... I’d get a
squeal out of yeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwuuuuuuhhhhh. LOL!
I like the heart behind “custom made” family.
Beautiful sentiment from a lovely person.
I just lost my appetite. Yich!
Ok, I’m going to use real names so you can keep track of the players. I doubt any of my relatives will come upon this post, but if they do, eh... who cares.
My uncle Bill was a widower with two sons. The oldest is named Kerry.
Bill married Alma, who had a daughter named Joyce.
Kerry and Joyce were both 19 when this happened and met at the wedding of Bill and Alma.
A year later Kerry and Joyce got married and a year later had a son Scott.
Scott has a mother and father, but only has one set of grandparents, Bill and Alma.
Trust me, your situation is nothing.
THAT is a romantic story.
One day I’ll explain how my grandfather’s half brother is a year younger than me, my grandfather’s second youngest grandchild.
