Medical Industry Makes Plans to Rate Your Medical Bill Payment History

Think your credit score only matters when you want to purchase a home or car? In the very near future, it may also affect your medical care. The health industry recently revealed their plans to create their own score to judge patients' ability to pay.

The new medFICO score is being designed by Healthcare Analytics, a Massachusetts-based health technology firm, along with the financial assistance of Fair Isaac Corp. of Minnesota and Tenet Healthcare Corp. of Texas. Additionally, venture capital firm North Bridge Venture Partners, also of Massachusetts, is chipping in on the project. Each of the partners have put up $10 million to fund the project.

Do they want to hasten the emergence of socialized medicine in the US??? This is the only logical outcome from this.

That’s the way I was reading it. I fail to understand why so many think universal health care is a wonderful idea, most especially given the way the Democrats have run their primary. On any given day you can hear someone on talk radio, for instance, give an alternative to try to help the current health care situation without resorting to universal health care, and I don’t understand why those ideas aren’t more mainstream because to me they make a lot more sense.

“Healthcare Analytics is currently developing the scoring system, and to do so they are collecting patient data from hospital systems with a combined $100 billion in annual net revenue.”

So - do you suppose those whose data is currently being collected has been asked if they want to participate in this study?

Isn’t that violation of HIPPA, assuming they did not get permission for the records first?

I will fully support this on *TWO* conditions.

1) Full Disclosure of all malpractice, iatrogenic incidents, and hospital-borne infections for all doctors, clinics, practitioners, and hospitals

2) Allowing patients to seek treatment at an out-of-network facility at in-network rates, *IF* the prevalence of incidents above at the in-network provider is above some LOW threshold level ("if it saves just ONE child, it's worth it!")

And in they institute *this* program for workers at hospitals and insurance companies, I heartily approve.

Cheers!

This is a bad idea. If healthcare is doled out on the basis of a credit score, it will only feed the Democrat class-envy/warfare machine and will make it a cinch for them to institute socialized medicine to take care of the people who don’t have coverage. Then, like most government programs, it will balloon into an enormous bureaucracy and drain our economy like an old time blood-letting session. Which is why I asked who’s side these people are playing on. It ain’t on the side of free markets.

Does this mean that people with a *low* medical bill payment score will have to pay higher interest — read higher prices — for medical care? What about the deadbeats? Will they be denied altogether? What about illegal aliens? Is it still free for them?

Oh, this really helps. (Delete disgusted profanity here.)

In my opinion, yes. And so do many corporations who don't want to have to pay benefits to their employees.
