I have been talking to my Mother, Thanks Blam, about getting a DNA test to deturmine heritige. AB Negitive is a rare blood type in Ireland, less than 1%.
I have been wondering about the distribution of this Blood Type among people descended from those who emmigrated from Northern Ireland.
My Mother is Black Irish, Not Protestant, Black Hair, Dark Brown Eyes, Olive Skin, not your normal Harp. My Nana said it was the milk man, not likely!

For later.
Blood group AB, Rh Negative blood type is extemely rare among all the population. Because Rh negative blood is more common in Caucasians, it is found more in the European population than in those of Asian or African descent. However, I think there would not be a way to use blood typing for AB or Rh for proving anything about your lineal lines. Group AB blood, RH positive typing, is only about 4% of the population. Thus group AB with an Rh negative type is less than 1% of the population.
This is just my 2 cents worth. I am a trained Medical Technologist, and formerly worked in a blood bank lab in a hospital, so have some knowledge of blood types.

Thanks Little Bill. Just adding to the catalog, not sending a general distribution. |

My father was of Irish descent. My blood type is AB-.
Absolutely there is. If you are the Barrack in a wood pile among a lot typical white people, political sarcasm intended, you might want to ask why. 99% of those people in Scotland and Ireland are 0 and you are not, reparations are needed.
Great. Do you have any results yet?
BTW, Bryan Sykes says in his book, Saxons, Viking and Celts that he was unable (couldn't find) any DNA that is 'Black Irish.' The same with the Picts in Scotland.
"O" might well be dominant in those groups, but barely so.
The Scanderhoovians have more A+ than they do O+. The Finns are highest at 38% A+.
Obamasama wouldn't be distressed ~ odds are good his baby-daddy had more than his fairshare of European ancestry anyway, so he could be A+.
1 - "Give blood, the gift of life"
2 - a gay rainbow decal.
To her Black Irish are Protestants. It was tough to convince her that Black Irish are something else genetically
My folks are from the Belfast area. In 2005 we visited Armagh. We LOVED that town. Very divided by faith, but a great character, beautiful, and welcoming. Send me a private email and I’ll send you a link to our Flick pictures of the area.
No, I have to go and show her that I am not going to rip out chunks of her flesh, ever try to argue with an 88 year old democrat, FDR saved us!
He may not believe in the Black Irish, but I do believe in Phenotypes. The Harps in my branch of the family do not conform to the typical Irish Phenotype.
The Last time I went and did a search on my Mothers family name. The Reverend Dr Mothers Name was conducting a Revival. The Catholics, Mothers Name, were fleeing to avoid violence.
I was always told the Mediterranean features came from a little Spanish rape and pillage back in the day.
It was always my understanding that the "Black Irish" were descended from those survivors of the Spanish Armada that came ashore after their ships foundered off the Irish coast. They are darker, tend to have black hair and some dark eyes although bright blue eyes are found too.
