Hey kids -- who's in?
I've been waiting for a thread to pop up all day. Is anyone else interested?

If anyone thinks this is too early, keep in mind that E! Entertainment Television has been live, with a countdown to the red carpet, since 9 a.m. PST.

Sorry, I won't be watching it again. Jon Stewart hosting again.
Hope the Plastic People enjoy themselves. Don't their hands hurt from endlessly patting themselves on the back? How many awards shows do they give themselves each year? It's at least one a month.

I haven't watched for years and won't watch tonight. I don't know 95% of today's "stars" and I don't care to see them on the stage.
I don't care to sit for hours just to see the gowns and weird menswear. I don't want to watch all the males appearing at the podium who have stubble all over their chins and 5 o'clock shadows on their cheeks.
I'm old enough to remember when real stars walked out of the wings in all their glory.....Davis, Hayworth, Hepburn, Flynn, Power, Wayne, Heston, Tracy, Leigh and Olivier.....
Most of today's "stars" are beanbag or lefties. I'll watch "Cold Case Files" and "What Not to Wear" for a while and then freep till bedtime with popcorn and milk duds at hand.
I'll check in here once in a while to see what's cookin' and I won't have to sit through commercials on this thread.

I'll be watching towards the end and I hope that Johnny Depp wins Best Actor for
Sweeney Todd. I think he's one of the best actors of my generation.
I've followed his career from back in his 21 Jump Street days.

Okay, I’m watching E! And that is definitely not the first time Ryan Seacrest has held a purse. He looked a natural at it.

How much BDS this time? How much Republican Party bashing this time? How much “conservatism” bashing this time? Will John McCain get bashed tonight? Will Barack Obama, the Democratic Party, certain Democratic Party leaders, and/or Hillary Clinton be praised “big time”, and by how much? Will Hillary Clinton also be bashed tonight? What “political causes” will truly be shoved down all of our throats this time?

I only care nowadays for Best Foreign Film, as last year’s winner, “The Lives of Others” blew away anything Hollywood put out.
I hope “Katyn” wins, so that hopefully it will then be finally available here in the States.

Hey, lainie... thanks for the great thread! I admit I haven’t seen any of those movies (except “Sweeney Todd the Demon Barber of Fleet Street”). I guess I’m tuning in just to see if any celebrities make political statements...

Has anyone come up with a drinking game for tonight?

My annual contribution to this thread--a reality check from the greatest cinema artist of all.

He said wisely: "I never said all actors are cattle; what I said was all actors should be treated like cattle."

They really don’t make them like they used to let us say in the silent era for example.
Maybe that is why the interest level is.. well..blase.
