2012 End of the World? Finally, it's all starting to make sense now (vanity)
Posted on 02/07/2008 1:23:28 PM PST by Scythian
I wonder if the doomsday clock will go nuclear now that it's McCain/Hillary in 2008. That gives either one of them 4 years to really mess up in the final war which is upon us. Perhaps 2012 is "more real" than we think.

Sycthian responded before I could. Basically though, the Mayans who were apparently very good at astronomy created a calendar which “runs out” in 2012.
It’s my thinking having been an astronomer for 40 plus years, that they simply quit calculating at that point and it was the last year they felt like working out.
If I recall correctly, their days were not the same as ours, and they didn’t have a 7 day week or anything like that either, so it’s all apples and oranges.

There is some kind of weird alignment of several planets with a gap in the milky way, sort of a dark zone in space. This is supposed to happen on 12/17/2012 and is something that happens only once evry 50,000 years or sime such.
There was a History Channel show on it a couple of months ago about whether that date was the “end of the world” — fairly interesting show, actually.

It’s when the Mayan calendar ends. Its sometime close to but before December 25th. Cant remember the exact day.
All I know is that I don’t have to go Christmas shopping that year but I’m still on the hook to get my wife a Birthday gift on the 18th. So sometime that week.

Here’s some food for thought.
You’re correct about the Mayan calender ending abruptly in 2012.
According to biblical end times prophecy the anti-christ will have a seven year reign that starts out peaceably and is shattered exactly halfway through that 7 year period and all hell breaks loose.
Jan. 20 2009 forward 3 1/2 years puts us pretty close that Mayan date.

I’m guessing they’re pretty short on explanations on exactly how and from what source the Mayans possessed knowledge we don’t.

According to scripture the world never ends...It might get pretty fubar, but it won't end. I take great comfort in knowing that the only true conservative will take over office then...Jesus Christ!
In the meantime, I'll cast my vote for John McCain...The only logical choice that remains!
P.S. I'm really, really thankful that I have that choice...

Also, another thing I should say here... mostly this is a CONSPIRACY THEORY, and you will find if you start researching it, that some of the kooks (INCLUDING A LOT OF RON PAUL’S PEOPLE) think that it’s a fact (2012) and also they connect these dates with things like the Illuminati and other weird theories.

Hey wide the Mayans even gave us a date in 2012. December 21, 2012.
Wonder if I should hold up and wait to buy Christmas Presents.
Naaa, maybe I'll go out and buy that 100 inch plasma tv on a credit card.

These guys are the ones that are responsible for the setting of the "Doomsday Clock"...
http://www.thebulletin.org/
They are a committee of people, originally one person was the one who set it somewhat subjectively. It moved it's closest to "midnight" a few days after 9-11 I believe and has since been reset back to 7 or 8 minutes to midnight.
