I may not agree with McCain on his politics but I would never insinuate that he is a traitor to the country.

How would he handle being tortured for 5 years.

I don't know, but I'm pretty certain that we're all about to be tortured for the next eight years.

Seriously, now: no one denigrates John McCain's military service. But that was forty years ago, and what we are today concerned with is his political record, which is not one of consistent support for conservative principles and values. In fact, McCain has become more liberal with time (last year he was the third least conservative Republican senator (ACU rating: 65). He has frequently bashed his fellow Republicans, and had his closest relationships with Democrats. He has supported free speech restrictions (campaign finance reform) and open borders (the same kind of immigration "reform" supported by his good friend, Ted Kennedy).

All of this is important. It is clearly reflected in the primary results thus far. Most tellingly, in yesterday's Super Tuesday event, the numbers show that a significant majority of Republican primary voters do not support John McCain for President. He "won" by attracting the votes of Independents who took Republican ballots, and by Mike Huckabee sapping Southern support for Mitt Romney.

Bottom line: we face the prospect of the Republican nominee for President in 2008 being a guy most Republicans do not want, that huge numbers of conservatives cannot stand, and who is old and famously intemperate besides. Gee, I can't understand why life-long Republicans are so unhappy at that prospect.....

Arnold also changed sides due to personal reasons, primarily because he felt like-—with good reason-—that the Continental Congress was snubbing him, which it was. He had been passed over for promotion, Congress had failed to reimburse him for personal expenses incurred during his 1776 Quebec Campaign, and had also given Horatio Gates full credit for Saratoga when it was Arnold who had saved the day for the Americans. After he was court martialed and convicted of two politically-motivated misdemeanors, and after Washington failed to defend his character, and after Arnold had made new Tory friends and married Peggy Shippen, Arnold decided to say “screw you all” and switched his allegiance to the British.

To me, McCain IS a traitor. The Constitution doesn't speak about exporting democracy to the Middle East, but it does cover protecting Amrerica from invasion.

U.S. Constitution, Article 4 Section 4. The United States shall guarantee to every state in this union a republican form of government, and shall protect each of them against invasion;"

We are being invaded, that is beyond dispute. What does McCain do? Propose, with Ted Kennedy, an amnesty for all 12 -20 million invaders. The clincher in the treason proof dept is his naming Juan Hernandez as his "Hispanic outreach" director. Hernandez was born in Dallas, but became a dual Mexican-American citizen. His last job was being Vicente Fox's "Mexican reconquista" director. Hernandez by any definition is a traitor: born in the USA, becomes a dual Mexican citizen, works for the reconquest of the Southwest. And Juan Quisling Benedict Arnold McCain names him as his Hipanic outreach director.

So calling McCain a traitor is perfectly apt.

God Bless John McCain for his service during the war. I would probably shake the man’s hand and tell him “Thank You”, but I have SERIOUS trouble voting for a man who votes for, much less SPONSORS, legislation which is in DIRECT contradiction to the First Amendment.

If you don’t think that’s traitorous, fine. I think it is. Call it what you want, it’s un-American.

Was this the caller that was a lady that said she will not vote for McCain because he to far to the left, and when Rush asked her who she will vote for she stated she may stay home or might vote for Hillary Clinton?!?!

McCain is only 40% correct, Hillary is a radical Marxist that is far more dangerous and correct 0%. Suicide Voters make no sense.

Actually, you’ve got that a little wrong.

Rush said what most of us already know: “A vote for Huckabee is a vote for McCain.”

Well, McCain did work hard to make sure we didn’t try to discover the fate of MIA’s in Viet Nam. So much for leaving nobody behind.

Calling McCain a traitor is way out of line. Comments like that tell the electorate that conservative Republicans are unfit to hold office and govern the country. Stupid party indeed.

I am well aware of McCain's record. That 65 from the ACU is what he pulled last year, giving him a lifetime rating of 82 at the ACU. But that is not the point.

Comparing him to one of the country's worst traitors, one who directly sold out West Point and George Washington, is WAY out of line.

Excuse my mistake about being a lieutenant when he went down over North Vietnam, According to your wikipedia link, McCain was a Lt Cmdr when he deployed on the carrier to Vietnam.

Every POW returned to a raise in grade, and I will always believe that he made Captain because his father and grandfather were Admirals.

My point was that his military background is not one of military command, just military service, like millions of other veterans, and I know about his assignment in Texas. “the largest squadron, etc etc, whatever his quote is.

McCain’s age is going to become an issue with national media about 24 hours after he clinches the nomination.

Also his history of cancer, and worries about his health due to 6 years in POW camps, ....

Remember how national media went bonkers over Cheney’s medical history, as a serious reason why he should not be elected!

The 1st Amendment is not a nuisance clause tacked onto the Constitution.

McCain says:

"Why don't you shut your political pie hole?"

Stifling the www? Online Freedom of Speech Act (H.R. 1606)

"1606 is needed because federal courts have ordered the Federal Election Commission to regulate "electioneering communications" on the Internet because of the Bipartisan Campaign Finance Reform Act (McCain-Feingold). If H.R. 1606 fails to become law, your Web site or blog could be shut down for the 30 days prior to a primary election and the 60 days prior to a general election should you express "electioneering communications."

John McCain, enemy of free speech

Not Child‘s Play [McCain/Schumer bill could effect FR?]

John McCain, you treasonous bastard, I challenge you or any of your traitorous cohorts... (thread by Jim Robinson)

“So McCain is a traitor?”

Due to McCain/Feingold and Kennedy/McCain I would have to answer yes to that question when it comes to America. When it comes to his being a traitor to the Republican party and conservatism I wouldn’t even know where to begin.

Arnold was discovered as a result of the Brit Andre’ being captured with papers in Andre’s possession that detailed Arnold’s plan to surrender West Point to the Brits.

Arnold sought and obtained command of WP to effect this plan.

Prior planning and documentary evidence of his plans make him a flat-out traitor. Yes, he was there at Bunker Hill, etc.

Still, the record shows he planned, with forethought, military treason.
